I also wonder if we can ultimately upgrade the backup PG position, assuming DLO is still our starting PG heading into next season. Obviously Rubio has lost a beat or two since last season and will likely be moved this summer. McLaughlin has been "nice", but we need our bench to be a strength since our starting 5 isn't going to be elite in the near future.
Fortunately, finding good backup bigs and point guards should not be as hard as, say, finding a 3&D wing.
I love the G-league brigade from last year, but these guys just might not be good enough for what we need going forward.
I miss Tyus. The dude was not flashy, but he handled the ball well, did not turn it over and was effective.
He is not worth what he was paid.
Maybe, he's shooting the 3 at 25% this season yet is hitting 85% of his FT's. He's still solid on defense, high in steals, high in assists and very low in turnovers. I just hate watching my PG's turn it over a lot.

Another guard that can't score or shoot. And he makes way too much money for what he brings to the table. He was a good value while on his rookie contract, but not anymore. We'd have roughly $16-million annually invested into him and Hernangomez.

He's way better then Rubio.
There may be a universe you're living in that I am not. Rubio has accomplished plenty more than Tyus to date. I was not a big fan of the Rubio trade, even though I did love watching him in his first stint here, so I did not hate seeing him come back. Rubio was infectious character wise here; especially after the Garnett days. I cannot say I cared watching Tyus leave for that contract. Good luck to him, glad it was not our franchise paying it.
Rubio had 0 TOs tonight. He has only 6 TOs in the past 5 games.
He's averaging 7.6 apg... and only 1.4 TO in his past 10 games. Rubio has his issues... but TOs aren't one of them in the grand scheme of things. That ratio would lead the league... or be close.

I'm just saying this season, Rubio is worse then Tyus and anyone that watched Rubio play would agree. Rubio shoots the ball terrible from everywhere and turns it over all the time. He couldn't do anything worse offensively. And defensively Tyus has him there too.

He is not worth what he was paid.
It's all relative.
Tyus Jones makes $8M.
J. Hernangomez makes $7M.
J. Culver makes $6M.
Ed Davis makes $5M.
Tyus was an overpay. Glad we let him go at that price.
Juancho was an unnecessary overpay.
The Davis deal was unnecessary.
I would have rather seen that 12 mil go to a true PF. Davis is not that.
Culver is what it is. You cannot make a pick and not give them the time with that investment. Wrong pick, shit trade, Rosas should have to answer for that one.

He has turned it around, no pun intended. He was turning it over like crazy and shooting terrible for most of the year. He's starting to bring those numbers up even if he's missing too many shots.
You don't get the worst record in the NBA from competent PG play. lol

I get that.
I do not think anybody thought Rubio would play this bad after his last few years. Luckily we got Jaden McDaniels out of it, and a wait and see with Bolmaro.
Either way, I hate many trades from this team worse than the Rubio one.
Not worried in the slightest about not retaining Tyus though.

You seem to be changing your story now.
I never said he was good. Or even competent. I simply refuted your take that he's turning it over like crazy... using facts.

It is not about PG play, we just suck talent wise compared to other teams. There is not a lot of minutiae to it. Well, our coaching sucked ass too.
