Its not, but I'd be wary if they are shopping Noel. Could be injury, could be coachability, could be personality. Why risk it when there are 5 or 6 that may be blue chip prospects. If I got the 8th pick, yeah, I'd honestly give it some serious consideration, but if you can draft an elite talent at the beginning of a rookie deal, that is pretty hard to beat.

Kahn's covered most of the reasons why it could make sense to deal Noel but here is one other reason. Maybe they think they can't keep him when it's time for him to get paid. Maybe they still suck and he will want out. The more I think about it the more so think with Colangelo in town the Sixers will spend some money for some legit NBA players kinda like what the Knicks did last offseason and they aren't terrible anymore.

Bottom line is if the Sixers are giving up Noel for a top 5 pick that's not giving him away. I would imagine they would have to be in love with a player to give him up though. One year of him and Okafor with a bunch of crappy players around them doesn't seem like enough time to k ow for sure they can't work. Of course if they end up with a PF with their pick...it could change things.

1. He would have to pass a physical or we could void the trade so injury isn't an answer.

2. All the negative behaviors of Okafor and Embiid have leaked so your worries about coachability or personality issues literally have no grounds for being a real thing because nothing negative has been said about the guy.

3. It could literally be as simple as they take a guard first, Skal's left on the board and we swap Skal for Noel because they need a perimeter scoring big and Skal fits that description and we could always use more defense on the frontline.

4. There aren't 5-6 blue chippers in this draft. There's 2 with the potential for a 3rd.

5. Why would they trade the value down? Noel was the 6th pick in his draft. Why would they trade him for anything lower than that especially in a weak draft?

Remember Noel missed his first year with injury, so he's a higher risk for a repeat injury. Who knows what goes on in the 76ers locker room. My concern is that the 76ers have the info edge on Noel and that puts them in a better position to take advantage of us. Remember when Kahn traded our first rounder for Martell Webster, we still got an injured an ineffective player so my concerns aren't alleviated by a physical. We traded a first for Budinger and that was another disaster.

I think there are some good players in the draft: Simmons, Ingram, Dunn, Brown, LaBissiere and maybe Bender. We get those guys on a rookie deal for 3 years longer than Noel. We'd have to shell out big money to keep Noel just at a time when we'd need to start paying our young guys. I am a big fan of Noel and thought he should have been one of the top 2 picks along with Oladipo, but I still go with a top 5 draft pick in next year's draft over him (unless David Kahn would be making the pick for us).

Weak draft?? I disagree. I think the upcoming draft is stronger than Noel's draft, which I thought was pretty weak. AB was drafted number one--that's pretty telling.

Draft Dunn , trade Ricky for Noel.

Dunn
Wiggins
Shabazz
Kat
Noel
I could get down with that lineup!
Does Ricky have that kind of value around the league?

I would guess it'd depend on who the 6ers draft. They might do it if they land Ingram, Bender, or Murray, but doubtful if they take Simmons or Dunn

Brett Brown would probably like to have Ricky. Are Colangelo or DAntoni fans though?

Celtics likely have 8 draft picks in next year's draft. Yes, 8 picks. 3 first rounders and 5 second rounders (it would be 4 and 4 if we didn't get a top 12 pick). I'm sure Boston will be trading some of those picks, why not to us? They mentioned wanting to add scoring and I'd happily give them KMart and Bazz for picks. Right now Boston's first rounders would be 3 (Brooklyn), 13 (their own) and 20 (Dallas). If Bazz could get us the 13th pick, I'd definitely do it. If KMart could get us an early 2nd rounder (they have the 76ers 1st which is the first in 2nd), I'd do it as Gary Payton II would be a great pick around there. Boston also has some decent players sitting on the bench who I like: Jordan Mickey, Ty Zeller, Kelly Olynyk, Jonas Jerebko. Boston will have a liquidation sale on draft picks and/or players and I think we need to be opportunistic.

TeamRicky - Great point about Celtics. They need to make a big trade now or they are going to have some major issues with keeping assets. I would probably jump Dieng though before Shabazz. The problem is all of the bigs you listed on the bench are at least as good as Dieng.

I like Dieng's potential more than Bazz. Dieng just needs to fill out a bit more, but he can play both ends. Bazz has a low bb iq and i'm convinced he will always be a liability on defense. I'd like to trade Bazz to a team like the Celtics where maybe we could get a mid first and a player.
