Lots of Simmons to the Wolves rumors on the internet today. Rosas is obviously drooling to add him to this roster. But it's going to take a lot to get him, as other teams are going to be pursuing him too. Even though the numbers work, there's little chance the Sixers would be interested in a straight up DLO/Ben trade. I suspect we will have to give up Beasley and draft picks too, and have to take back George Hill's $10 million contract. I would do that in a minute and not be concerned about what picks we give up...I would expect a team anchored by KAT, Ant, McDaniels and Simmons would do very well, and our first round pick would be somewhere in the 20s...not a big loss.

The only players I would balk at including in a Simmons deal would be Ant, KAT and McDaniels, but I would consider trading DLO and McDaniels if Philly assisted on Jaden. It will be fun to see where this goes as the summer progresses.

I wouldn't give up McDaniels. I feel Beasley could be expendable. Nowell could potentially replace him.

If a playoff team is ready to cast off their second best player shouldn't that throw up some red flags? If Simmons wasn't getting it done for them what makes us think he'll provide more to a lesser talented team in a more difficult conference?

Is DLO and Bease the answer? It's more about fit then anything. Simmons has some mental issues, has had years of bad press ()for not shooting 3's) and needs a fresh start. DLO and Bease in this hypothetical trade are not great defenders but Philly has several who are including Embiid. They can stand to take a little hit from the perimeter to improve their offense.

While the Wolves with KAT isn't a great defender. I see Simmons as a huge upgrade making our defense much better.

We need defense, they need offense. It's a win-win even if neither is "the answer" to winning a championship. Though potentially they could be.

If we give up those two guys we become a team that might be good defensively (might) but guaranteed to be a team that can't shoot from the perimeter. So what have we gained? Ant is a shot creator but by no means a threat from the perimeter.

Teams are scoring 110 to 115 a game. Even the best defensive teams dont stop that from happening consistently. You have to outscore the other team nowadays . Are you comfortable that this team can do that with this trade?

I'm a big hesitant to embrace Rosas trading for Simmons. Here's my thinking:

1. First, want to know more before committing to any deal for Simmons. How would KAT react to losing his friend DLO in exchange for Simmons? An unhappy KAT doesn't bode well. How would Simmons feel about coming here? He's apparently highly sensitive and temperamental. He loves and wants to stay in Philly and he had a reputation for being lazy in college. We also saw his mental implosion in this year's playoffs. How he feels about coming here would say a lot about how he'd play here. It's not like we have a lot of mental toughness on this team. DLO and Beasley are probably the most mentally tough guys we have and it's likely they'd both be shipped out in any deal for Simmons.

2. Second, losing both Beasley and DLO would leave us with only one proven high-caliber 3-point shooter, namely KAT. I like the idea of upgrading our defense, but bottom line is that you have to be able to shoot and score to win in today's NBA and 3-point shooting is critical to the offensive firepower you need.

3. Finally, I don't trust Rosas to negotiate a good deal for the Wolves. The DLO deal is just one example. The fact that the news is filled with chatter about Rosas drooling over the possibility of trading for Simmons isn't a good sign.

Darren Wolfson: My text was how badly do the Wolves want to trade for Ben Simmons? This individual sent me a text back. It was one word: Badly.

So it doesn't look like Rosas is creating much negotiating leverage. :)

Watching the Suns game tonight is a reminder of how important it is to have multiple 3-point shooters if you're going to be a contending championship level team. The Suns have Booker, Paul, Bridges and Cam Johnson. The Clippers have Paul George, Reggie Jackson, Patrick Beverley, Luke Kennard, and Marcus Morris.

Trading Beasley and DLO in a package for Simmons would be a questionable move for the Wolves. Our three point shooters remaining on the roster would be KAT and ..... (crickets). Well, maybe Edwards.

Isnt Ben Simmons the best power forward in basketball? I think most the problems people have with Simmons is that they analyze him as a PG because he has PG skills. Wart and all Ben Simmons would be a great combination with KAT in a front court. If we got away with only losing DLo and Beasley in a deal its a no brainer for me. The asking price is going to be way more than that though.

I really don't understand this board sometimes.

If I were to tell you before the playoffs that eventually wolves would turn Andrew Wiggins (probably worst contract in basketball) the #7 pick in this year draft and Roco deal

Into Ben Simmons, Jaden Mcdaniels, Vanderbilt and Juancho you all do it in a heartbeat.

It's easier to find 3 and D guys then guys like Simmons though. At that point you look away from other non shooters like Okogie and Vandy. If any team can absorb Simmons on offense it should be one with the best big shooter in the NBA. KAT can focus more on 3's and Simmons down low.
