Any chatter on the Martin front? Is this the best policy, to have him sit and be forgotten to increase his trade value?

Well playing him certainly doesn't increase it. But honestly, we aren't getting much for him. It will be addition by subtraction.

He could have asked out last year he could have sulked after getting benched this year. Instead this year he put forth effort on D attempted to take charges etc. let's be real here no crappy teams are likely to trade for Martin or any other valued vet on the likely last year of their deal (like Brewer and Mo last year) so Martin is going to go to at least a decent team the Lakers or Philly won't be offering the best deal.
LST i just think it's fair to give Morris his due and Payne just hasn't done enough (playing on a below average team) to make me think he can reach the level that Morris has achieved already in his career. They are somewhat similar in what they may be able to do and not do for you. Like I said so think Payne could end up being a value able rotation guy and those guys can really help teams for years.
Players shouldn't be given extra credit for fulfilling their contracts without bitching if something doesn't go their way. That's what you're supposed to do. So I'm not giving him credit for not asking out of making 7 million dollars to sit on the bench. We've taken care of multiple players and what has that got us? The way I see it, we've got a bunch of nothing for taking care of guys like Brewer and Mo. Why should we do it a third time for Martin? Take the best deal.
How do you know the Wolves didn't take the best deal?
I get what you are saying but like I said I'll give a guy a little credit for not bitching because time and time and time again we see guys whining about everything you can imagine. Lack of playing time, having their brother traded, being mad because they don't get to play their preferred position and on and on and on and on. To be fair some guys have had a reason to be upset at times. Sure guys should to a certain extent do what they signed to do but in Martin's case he signed to be part of a playoff team and a contender and that happened for what one season? He hasn't complained. Can't he get a tiny bit of credit for that especially considering other guys do it pretty frequently? I mean he was on the team with the worst record last year and could have either asked out or just sat. Instead he played when was healthy and didn't ask out. I'm not suggesting we call him a saint or whatever but not giving him any credit for that seems silly to me.
We don't know what goodwill theoretically sending vet players to good situations (again why would a bad team trade for expiring vets?) but it could pay off with players and agents seeing the Wolves as a team that will do right by you. We don't really know if that's a thing that matters but we do know players and agents can be unhappy with teams and the Sixers have been one of those teams for at least a few months now but that could start to change.
I listened to a radio spot with Milt from yesterday and he basically said the trade market is quiet. Teams are calling to see who is available and what you might value a guy at but nobody is really looking to pull the trigger right now. Basically it sounds like Martin could be here for a few weeks before anything happens.
At this point I don't think him sitting will hurt his value all that much. Teams know what Martin is and what isn't and a lot of teams always figure a guy can fit and do better on their team than someone else's. Who knows maybe 3 games from now Sam gets frustrated with how guys are playing and throws Martin out there and he goes for 47 points and... Regardless he will be traded to a team with playoff aspirations that has some sort of relative need for him and we will get some mild return. It's basically the only exciting thing we will be doing on the trade market so it's hard not to get sorta excited about it and overanalyze it but we probably shouldn't. On the other hand that's pretty much 67% of the point of fan message boards right? Lol
Sidenote: if Tay keeps playing D like he has been the last few games I would not be surprised if a few teams call and see if he is available especially if he keeps shooting and hitting those long 2's (even though they are somewhat maddening). I don't think Tay will want out because he came here for Flip and Arnie Kander is probably another big factor in him wanting to stay.

Good point monster. Milt should definitely be trying to sell Tay as well.

I don't think so. Tay has been a good veteran for us. He's completely unselfish on the court and brings defensive value that can't be replaced with anyone currently on the roster. Martin on the other hand is a mostly selfish player trying to get his scoring stats and what he brings to the table is entirely replaceable by current members of the team. Miller, Tay and KG are all good veterans to keep on this team for the rest of the year. They don't seem to mind their minutes and they all seem to be helpful with the young guys. Martin and maybe Miller (if Tyus is going to be the backup the rest of the year) should be our only veterans on the block. KG and Prince are just too good of veteran examples of how to be good teammates and they still provide value to the team so I think we should keep them regardless.

I agree that Tay has been a great veteran for us, but I'd pull the trigger on any deal that got us long term value.
Re: Martin Officially on the Trading Block
Come on! These are not people. They do not have lives. They are fucking trading cards. Surely I can find some poor sap to give me a bent up Kobe card for a slightly faded Kmart...
Re: Martin Officially on the Trading Block
Martin was brought in to be part of the solution . He didn't meet expectations so I sure as heck would hope he didn't complain about the losing . He played a role in all those losses.
Re: Martin Officially on the Trading Block
Just to be clear I don't really endorse trading Tay at this point and I don't think it will happen. I do think there is a chance teams will call though. He has alot of value to the Wolves though since he is a vet guy that can still play but willing to play limited minutes and defends.
Martin was exactly what I expected a guy that would score around 20ppg and miss alot of games. He was surely a lot more useful than AK the guy he basically replaced. Honestly he was a guy that COULD have been part of the solution and at times was but was also part of the problem but we all knew his injuries and lack of defensive ability going in. I never really get why people despised him from the get go. It was/is sort of bizzare. Pork Chop is right though he probably doesn't have a reason to complain but that certainly doesn't stop a lot of guys from doing so. This is the NBA. Lol

I wonder if the Pistons would want Martin in exchange for Brandon Jennings rental. I would like to see how he would do with this team.
