Trade Deadlne Approaching
Re: Trade Deadlne Approaching
The Suns are screwed. LA, NY, and Miami have no real trade assets to make a reasonable deal. I mean, Calderon is injured all the time and has a bad contract (but the Suns do love their PG) but maybe Hardaway and Early. LA has absolutley nothing unless they want to remove the protection on the picks they owe the Suns. Miami has jack beside Whiteside, maybe a Deng for Dragic swap would work.
But Grey is right, all we can do is hope he lands in NY and LA as it should help our draft position.

I guess Dragic didn't get the memo. Not everyone is flocking to NY, LA, and Miami anymore.

He probably is not a follow the herd type of guy and more of a follow the money guy. Plus Miami and LA certainly have the best weather. I still don't get the appeal of NY.

I prefers he goes to NY, not because of the draft, but because it's one less talented player in the West. Anything that slightly weakens the West and strengthens the East is a good thing for us.

I really hope they change this playoff system. Division winners get in, but the rest of the playoff teams are chose regardless of conference. I know this goes against the whole NBA super-marketing machine, so will probably never happen

Ehh, he's going to get paid regardless. Even the four year, $80M amount is a pretty penny. If he wants to win, and I think he does, then Miami is a great fit for him. They can pay him, give him the large market experience, great city to live in (shittiest fans in sports) AND they'd have a pretty damn good team for several years. Dragic/Wade/Bosh/Whiteside makes up a very nice core.
As Q said, him going to NY would be best for us because they're in the East. I don't see the Knicks pulling that off, though. They have zero assets. BUT... I see Boston wants to enter the Goran Sweepstakes. They certainly have the firepower to get him from Phoenix. Something like 12 picks in the next three years (or something absurd like that). Not to mention Marcus Smart as a tradeable piece. That's where I want Dragic to land.

Question from fan wrote:What are the chances that the Timberwolves actually trade at least on of either Martin, Pekovic, Anthony Bennett, Thad Young? Are they really pushing to move anyone (besides Bennett) to make room for the development of their younger players?
Chad Ford wrote:I think it's pretty high. Thad Young is probably the most likely to go. He has a very tradable contract and could be an instant impact player on a team like the Blazers or Suns. I also think there's a market for Martin and Pekovic. Neither fit the long-term plans of the Wolves. Martin is a veteran shooter. He has two years, $14.5 million left on his deal, but that's not awful for someone who can put up point like Martin can. Pekovic's deal is a little harder to swallow (3 years, $35 million) but he's a big man who has been productive when he's healthy. If the Wolves can get cap relief and future firsts or young players -- makes a lot of sense. I doubt they trade Bennett. They'd be selling too low. I still think he has a ton of potential. With all that said, wouldn't be shocked if they held onto Martin as well. Flip loves him and despite interest from teams like the Bulls, Wizards and Kings ... Flip does like having a veteran presence in the locker room who takes some of the scoring pressure off Wiggins.

Good stuff Grey. Deal every one of the those guys if the return is favorable.
