Just went back and read it. I shouldn't have even posted one. Should have just said ditto. Good job.
Went back and watched a lot of Towns. Perfect fit for us. I think the two most underrated aspects of his offensive game is his ability to get great positioning in the post and his passing ability. His defense and rebounding fill huge needs.
I'm not sure we can fix the PF problem this offseason. Maybe platooning the bigs and using Towns versatility can give us some sort of decent play.
Cam, the post I remembering you doing involves trading bennett instead of martin for calderon. Which I think has zero chance of happening. Calderon is still a starting caliber pg in the league and a his 3pt shooting is a good fit next to melo and the triangle. I dont remember you proposing another trade to aquire calderon.
TRKO has a more reasonbale trade with martin for calderon.
Well, for starters, Calderon isn't an everyday starting caliber PG anymore. Hasn't been on for a couple seasons now.
The problem I have with TRKO's proposal is that I can't see NY doing that. I don't see a rebuilding team trading a 1st so easily (not even sure which picks they can trade right now). Also, they want to have more cap space in 2016. Swapping JC for KM doesn't get that done for them.
I guess the difference is I say the Knicks make the swap for Bennett for cap reasons and with his scenario, they do it to win now.
Cam, I still think there is zero chance the knicks consider a calderon for bennett swap. First, I think the knicks can do better if they intend to dump calderon, a late first is still very possible get for them should they consider it. Something we dont have and cant afford to trade away even if we have 1. Also, keep in mind the knicks have cap space this summer and with the cap projecting to make a big leap in 2016-2017. Calderon's 8m a year is certainly not that big of a deal and he should be a moveable piece for them. No reason for them to just dump him for bennett.
I miss the part in trko's post with the knicks throwing a late first in his martin/calderon swap. I dont think the knicks do that. I will be fine with a straight martin/calderon swap.
I like to add that while I do like neal, i think we could do an upgrade here. I like lavine coming off the bench for us as an instant offense guy. I would look to add a big sg/sf type in the starting lineup. A shooter to spread the floor in the starting lineup.
If we end up with towns/okafor. I might explore trades for bazz or dieng to get a shooter, a big sg/sf to pair with wiggins in the starting lineup. Gallinari/affalo/danny green/ross would be ideal. Bjelica should be consider for a roster spot as well.
