Love this deal. We needed a long term 4 to grow with KAT. Really think the two of them are great compliments. I'm on board.
Wolves fan commiserate here!

Next move is to move taj and teague. Dont think they fit with the team anymore.
Teague has no chemistry with towns and wiggins. They just dont mesh. Rose has been the best pg on the team this season and I dont want to see him back as backup sg. Okogie should be the backup sg and rose/tyus as the pgs.
We are 4-9 and near bottom in the west. We are. It making the playoffs this year. Time to try to get value for teague and taj while we can.
Agreed, if we can get something of value for them do it. Neither is the future and who cares about this season. We are in rebuild mode.
Now that the psycho Butler is gone, we can probably even play some decent ball towards the end of the year once these guys gel a bit. Then fire Thibs. Or fire him now. lol
Might as well get something out of Thibs since there is no obvious answers as coach available. Let's see how things go with the new guys. I'm fine moving Taj or Teague if there is value but I kinda doubt at this point that will happen. Teague I could see maybe the Suns acquiring him if he gets back healthy. I think it's worthwhile to see how this new teams gell together. There is real talent here and the team just got deeper. It's possible they go a run and get back to .500. Saric and Covington could be guys that add even more pace and space to a team that's already moved that direction. It's gonna be really interesting how Thibs manages Taj Saric Tolliver and Dieng.

It might take a month before we find out, but I also think we can play some decent ball later this season. As Q indicated, I think our biggest need is a big who brings a defensive presence and can give us 25 minutes. We have the assets now to find that type of guy.

Saric/Embiid works defensively because Embiid is a monster. KAT unfortunately doesn't offer up the same level of resistance and Saric certainly doesn't. Nice piece, but not a great fit defensively IMO.
Which is why either Saric is a 6th man here too or he's gotta be shopped for a PG (as I said earlier, I don't believe the PG of the future is on this team).
The 2 main needs of the Wolves now just don't exist much in the 2019 draft which sucks. Even Zion for all the talent he has just doesn't compliment Towns well.
At this point I'm rooting like hell for someone Jaylen Hands to play well enough to justify a lottery selection on him for PG.
C Towns /Dieng
PF ??? /Saric
SF Covington /Beita-Diop
SG Wiggins /Okogie (I hope this flips)
PG Hands /Teodosic or Dinwiddie
I'm pretty sure Zion will be elite on any team. He's like a combination of young Lebron and young Barkley.
but does he fit defensively? if not, you're gonna have to choose between him and Towns

I want more pace and space as well but teague just doesn not play that style. Rose plays a lot faster and moves the ball quicker when he is running the team. Teague needs to go. Suns and magic are the two teams that might be interested.
If we cant move taj then i want him to come off the bench for us as the backup center and move dieng out of the rotation. Dieng's defense is horrible and I see taj as the better center option of the two even if he is smaller. Start saric and have tolliver as backup pf and covington get some backup pf minutes as well.

I agree, however once you move KAT to the 4 you no longer have the premium mismatch where Towns can drag their big out of the paint and drain 3's on offense. So I wonder if a drop in offense would make up for a boost in defense?
Is there a big who can defend, rebound, protect the rim and still spread the floor? Anthony Davis? I think I might be asking for too much.
Saying that, rebounding and defense have been our achilles heel in most losses the last couple years. So I don't know what the solution is.

They look pretty good on paper, but they also have 2 stars in Embiid and Butler who have the potential to miss a lot of games. We'll have to see how it turns out.
Now we have to see what Glen decides to do with Thibs, and if KAT's pouting stops now that Butler is gone. Covington will help our defense, and he and Saric could make us a much better 3-point team. It's difficult to get excited about this deal, but it's better than any of the other deals that were rumored.
