Re: With the Vikings demise the Wolves HAVE to make the playoffs
Here would be my play.
Mike Glennon is the guy I go for and would offer a 3rd for him. He is an upgrade over Hill and has enough tape to know what he can and can't do. Didn't throw a lot of INTs or fumble it. Bronco's are they team we have to worry about since they are said to be interested.
I would be interested in Travis Jackson since I think he is every bit as good as Hill.
Either way. Vikings are only a diversion until the Wolves season starts for me.

Normally I would agree on bringing in Tavaris (solid backup that can do slot of things) but there is this plus he claims he is too broke to get a lawyer.

I like Glennon and I wonder if it would still take more than a 3rd round pick to get him away from Tampa even though I think he is a FA after this year. Is Glennon really worth that kind of value to give up? I kinda think so but it's far from a sure thing he is more than a backup QB.

While I have been a proponent of not giving up much for a 1-year need, I think bleed is really on to something with Glennon. He's a tall, relatively compentent backup who is a free agent at the end of this year. Plus TB has 3 QBs they are happy with. I don't know how stiff the competition, but just based on the facts above, I would think a 3rd rounder might be enough. I think I would reluctantly do it, but I admit I don't know enough about him.

I would probably do the 3rd rounder for Glennon because I really like him but it's possible he isn't worth it.
Something else to consider for Tampa is I don't understand how it all works but if Glennon leaves the Bucs in FA I would think they would get some sort of compensatory pick for him so they would be getting something. It would probably be a low round pick but they also would have him for the season in case something happens to Winston. You can say they aren't contenders or whatever but this is the NFL nearly every team has a shot.
Keep in mind too that there are a couple teams looking for QBs in Dallas and the Vikings so whatever team that has a QB to offer probably can keep their price high.

What the hell is wrong with TJ? IDIOT

A 3rd rounder for Glennon is far too much. Tampa bay gave up on him two seasons ago when they replaced him with McCown, who's value is said to be a 3rd rounder, and then ultimately with Winston. Teams think we are desperate so are going to try to fleece us for mid round picks on talent that would likely garner 6th or 7th round picks in a different scenario. I wasglad to hear Spielman acknowledge just that. I'd rather roll with Hill and grab a FA QB who is let go this weekend by a team.

3rd might be, but we are screwed right now. And injury to Hill and we shoudl go straight to tanking for next year mode.

Giving up a single draft choice in the 2nd - 4th range seems like an awfully small price to pay to solidify the position this year and provide insurance going forward.

I would agree. I think it all comes down to trusting our scouts to get the right guy.

That's a lot of faith in a guy that isn't starting right now to help save the season without having gone through training camp camp AND then be a possible solution for next year and that guy is a backup for another team. For example Glennon is a FA next year so he may not even stuck around if he might be needed. I think this is another odd example of how people easily fall in love with backups. If the Vikings get lucky and get the right guy that's great. It could happen but I'll temper my expectations.
Let's also keep in mind Speilman is pretty prepared I'm sure he has a list of guys he would be interested in if the worst case scenarios happen. That's his job. Every GM should have guys scouted to some extent in case they need to make a move.
