Here is a very "under the radar" move the Warriors made. They traded for Dennis Schroder before December 17th using a trade exception. This means he is eligible to be traded on February 5th, the day before the trade deadline. This is important because the Warriors can now acquire Jimmy Butler with only trading away 3 players, one of which is Schroder's expiring 13 mil deal.
Toronto has openly expressed interest in helping facilitate a Jimmy Butler trade. Enter the Wolves!
- The Warriors get their guy, Butler, for a last swan song with Steph.
- The Raptors get their homie, Wiggins.
- Miami gets Randle and Schroder.
- The Wolves have to waive a player (or trade a player for a draft pick?), and get Payton II (expiring), Boucher (expiring) and Olynyk.
I'll the front offices work out any draft compensation needed to get the deal done...
This puts NAZ in the starting lineup and adds front court depth for both Rudy and NAZ. And Payton gives us some depth in the back court in lieu of DDV's long term absence.
You can thank me later!
I'll expand on that Tim.
Minnesota receive: Bruce Brown and Kyle Anderson.
Warriors receive: Jimmy Butler
Miami receive: Julius Randle, Dennis Schroder, 1st RP (GSW 2025) and two 2nd RP (GSW 2026 & 2028)
Toronto receive: Andrew Wiggins
Bruce Brown is a 23 mil expiring. Kyle Anderson returns on a team friendly deal. Frees up 20 mil of cap space to resign Naz and/or NAW.
I wouldn't say "no" to that!
Although, we'll need to do something about our frontcourt depth. And SloMo's lack of scoring really showed itself in the playoffs. I am sure Toronto would prefer your deal. It's hard to checkout the salary matching for Golden State since spotrac does not allow the inclusion of Schroder just yet...

Love it! You guys cookin' things up in the trade kitchen!
However, you damn well know Connelly will do something totally out of left field that none of us thought of!
Very true!
There are 9 games left until the trade deadline hits. I feel like I am in limbo. There could be no trade and this is the team we have for the rest of the season. But there is this wishful hope that TC does something to move on from Randle, and they we have to figure out a whole new way to embrace this team. But I would be up for the challenge!

My prediction is Mike Conley is traded at the deadline for an expiring and a 2nd
That’s a savvy prediction, Kek. It would be an easy move for the Wolves.
Yeah, from a "trading cards" perspective, that's a move that makes sense and could probably be done. But if you consider player relationships, and Mike's mentorship to not only ANT, but to Dilly, I have a hard time seeing Mike being moved. I remember the Utah locker room was devastated when Mike was moved to the Wolves.
I think Mike is too valuable to have around our key players. Trading him could really kill morale. His contract is not very significant in the scheme of things.
I agree that Mikes contract isn't too significant, he still plays and is at minimum a good backup to have whenever Dilly becomes the starter. He's one of those guys that even if he doesn't play, he provides valuable mentorship and insurance in case guys get hurt. Say he's out of the rotation next year. Dilly is starting, DDV off the bench. I like what DDV has been giving us, but I think long term you want a guy like Dilly playing 30+ minutes to create offense, the ball handling, shot creation, pressure on the defense. I still like Conley filling in for 20 or 25 games if need be. Or spot minutes here or there.

Kek- is that a prediction, or something you would like to see happen? Or both? As for me, I think it's unlikely, and I wouldn't like it. Three things this team needs: veteran leadership, a good assist to turnover ratio, and 3-point shooting. Mike supplies them all. We know there aren't many mature presences on the team other than Mike, he's the ONLY player on the team with an assist to turnover ratio greater than two, and after a horrendous shooting October, he's over 39% on his threes again...pretty good for 10-11 million. Maybe TC decides to tank the season by going with just one PG...and an undersized rookie at that. But despite the .500ness of this team so far, I still want them to make the playoffs to see what they can do. 38 year old Mike is not 28 year old Mike, but we have seen how disjointed we are when he is out hurt. I love Rob's potential, but I don't want to go through the rest of the season with him as our only true PG.
These trades are depressing. Does Randle have literally no trade value? Heard that if Toronto couldn't move brown they would buy him out. Seems we should be able to get some draft picks back for him at least right? I mean he's averaging 19 ppg and 7.3 reb and 4.5 assists on 47.2 percent shooting. He has his negatives but he's 30 years old and 4 years ago had mvp votes. His offensive rating is actually better than that season.
He has his warts but damn. A guy who is possibly gonna be bought out and Kyle Anderson? We just would have traded kat for DD and Kyle Anderson. I really hope we get a bit more than that. Seems like Connelly really has lowered the bar on expectations in a trade.
