Speaking for myself, I have no problem asking for someone's job if they do not improve or cause issues, whether that person is a pro BB head coach or the janitor at a gas station. Don't do your job, find a new one. I have fired people for exactly that. I didn't take pleasure in it, but sometimes a clean break is what is needed for both parties to move forward. I have been very critical of Finch, and have cited many items that I wish he would improve on. Guess what, he is actually improving on his play calling, playing the pups(this isn't actually his doing, but he is making the changes on plays to take advantage of the pups abilities. )
I hope Finch keeps getting better every game because the Wolves will need everything he can bring to the table.

I could be wrong, but I think FNG was adding a bit of sarcasm to add some comic relief.
I'm not looking for reasons to ban anyone. Disagreements are fine, and even some insults. But keeping it sort of civil is all I ask. I'll confess I didn't read the prior posts with a fine tooth comb, but I didn't notice anything over the top.
Yep, mostly Tim. It was getting a little repetitive, but I can't say that I'm not guilty of that myself at times!

Finch and the wolves have improved every year and he has shown 0 issues imo that are fireable. I think that’s the source of my frustration with this thread. People act like we are floundering somehow being on the verge of a third trip in a row to the conference finals. Yeah the regular season was a bit clunky. But so were the last two seasons and we turned it on when it matters. If we make the playoffs I personally don’t care if we drop some winnable games along the way inservice to not burning everyone out. I’d rather judge the season as a whole with context versus just looking at numbers at the three quarter mark (end of regular season). Two teams are remembered for regular season success, the Bulls and the Warriors. And really we only talk about them when someone starts out so hot that their records look to be threatened. NBA even realizes how pointless the regular season has become and they started a freakin tournament mid season to try to make it matter.
And each year Finch has been here he’s had to make some pretty drastic changes to rotation to try to maximize a player that lives for the big moments and coasts in the small ones. Ant is electric but also frustrating in his level of compete. The fact that him and Finch have the type of relationship they do is ,again imo, the best we can hope for in today’s reality. No one is going to come along with a bag of magic beans to unlock the beanstalk that makes Ant play at 100% defense every day. And even if they did that would be even more detrimental to his long term health. He’s 25 and both knees are already shot. He’s Wolverine until he isn’t and that gets closer the more he’s forced to stop coasting in the regular season.
Anyways, some people would rather take the perceived short cut to success rather then build with effort and loyalty. The kind of people that want to hire a Steve Kerr type to come in and usher us to a ring are the kind of people that probably cheat at golf.

Coaching changes are often a thing that helps create championship teams. Phil with the Bulls and Lakers, Brown with Pistons, Riley with Heat, Kerr with GSW and I'm sure there are many, many more. Those teams didn't settle for good.

The issues to me is this is a flawed team and that starts up top. Being a team who doesn't listen to their HC, plays the regular season half ass when they really should be trying to improve and become a championship winner is a major flaw. Teams that are not self motivated to become a championship team and only show up after bad losses or in the playoffs is flawed.
I'm having trouble remembering any team that lacked the ability to show up half the time, then just turn it on and win it all. Sure a few cinderella teams have won. But it was more they got hot and maybe lucky too at the right time. More so in football or baseball, even hockey. In the NBA it's really hard to half ass it then just think we can win it all when the playoffs start. Championship teams are built upon winning culture throughout the year.

I think by beating Denver (and if they can stay competitive with the Spurs)... Finch now gets TWO bad seasons before he's canned.
This is going to make Wolves forums a tough place to be for a large chunk of those two seasons, but I'd guess Finch has that much built-up goodwill at this point.

I don't think it is fair to simply fault the regular season performance on Finch. There was a lot more "transition" going on throughout the season that contributed to the performance than simply coaching. We had the unfortunate injury to Shannon that made him a non-factor, at least until now. There was the failure of Dilly to develop in a timely manner. There was Mike Conley falling off a cliff mid-season (we are damn lucky he saved his juice for the playoffs!). There was ANT missing 25% of the season after only missing 3 games per season in the prior 3 years.
Yeah, the Wolves were remarkably healthy, sans ANT, for the regular season. But there was a lot of transitional stuff going on throughout the season that prevented the team from meeting our expectations. Even now, with Donte out and ANT less than 100%, I would say the Wolves are exceeding our adjusted expectations in the playoffs. Finch deserves some credit for that!

Yeah sure, but I just named 5 off the top of my head that did work. It's not an outlier, It's actually normal for coaching changes to result in championships. Those teams were good but didn't settle for good and most coaching changes are not good teams either obviously.
The thing too is, would those teams have won it all without a coaching change? Some of them like the Bulls, probably would have. Would it have been 6 though? IDK. Some of those it's pretty clear the coaching change was a big factor.
We regret not drafting Curry, but does he win a Championship here? I'd say very unlikely. We didn't have the surrounding talent or coaching to facilitate it. I think he'd still be an All Star, but his career would have been quite different.
