What a great commercial

It's good. The editor should have kept Lonzo's quotes interspersed with the serious ones a bit more toward the end to keep it subtle and make them stand out more, but that ad's genius, no doubt. And I like that Lonzo's willing to make fun of his dad. That actually makes me a little less worried about his relationship with his dad. Good stuff.

Good stuff. Lol

I think he will shatter the view of him only being a standstill shooter with his ability to attack closeouts, look at how easily Belly does it and gets into the lane (before he blows it) Imagine how hard people are going to overplay Markkanen 3's point threat! If Jackson and Isaac are gone I pray we take this dude

Ah yes, we must be getting close to the draft, as the hyperbole is starting to hit the frothiest of levels.

Yes I am going absolutely bonkers and have went out on a limb to predict that a top 10 pick in a stacked draft class who everyone and their mother knows doesn't do anything well but score will score a lot in the NBA, truly a wild take. I'll try not to get carried away and compare him to someone with as much clout as Belly in the future.

Some news from the local guys on draft stuff. Again this is FWIW

Jon K said the Blazers are interested in moving up obviously they don't want to use all 3 first round picks. He mentioned again he thought the Wolves could have legit interest in moving down if the player they want at 7 isn't there. Zach Collins was a name he threw out there as a possible trade target if they moved down. He says unless someone really falls he thinks it's unlikely the Wolves select a PG. he said adding another young PG to a team likely hoping to take a step forward doesn't make a lot of sense. Jon reminded everyone that this is the time of year when it's very difficult to know what to believe.

Wolfson reports Isaac at this point is only working out for the top 4 teams. Obviously that doesn't mean teams athat pick later could pick him and there is still time for him to work out with other teams. Dennis Smith was planning to come here for a workout but that isn't the case anymore. He said Markkanen's camp has gone very silent in general.

It doesn't seem like the Wolve have had many draft workouts for lottery pick guys. That doesn't really bother me that much. Sone of those guys probably won't be there and if they are they know enough. They also can watch these guys at their pro day workouts. They had Zach Collins in and I think he is a guy I would like to see in a team workout setting because he played limited minutes his freshman year in college.

Another new "consensus" mock draft from four guys at Basketball Insiders. Quite a wide spread for Monk and Tatum. Two of them have Monk at 3, the other two have Monk at 9. And two of them have Tatum at 3, the other two have Tatum at 7.

Hard for me to see Isaac getting past #6.....I could live with Tatum. I just hope we aren't relying on any rookie to be in the top 9 of the rotation. Force them to outplay/outwork an established veteran.

Seems like everyone has less information than before, as Thibs and Layden really, really, really play things close to the vest. Jon K has sources, but I don't think it's either of those guys and may even be two or three degrees removed from them. While it leaves us fans wanting for more, I'm fine with a front office that doesn't leak a bunch of stuff or talk too much.

The other notable item Jon K mentioned was that it appears Bjelly will be ready for training camp. I know that he's run sort of hot and cold (mostly cold) in his two seasons since coming over from Europe, but he was one of the few players that actually improved his defense significantly under Thibs. While I'd love for us to upgrade that position, a healthy and confident Bjelly isn't the worst thing in the world to have as a 9th or 10th man.

It's not surprising those guys have that wide spread. Some of these rookies I could see having a legit chance is contributing off the bench somewhat quickly. Tatum as a bench scorer, another guy as a legit 3 point threat.

I'll be a little surprised if Tatum gets to us but if he did I would take him at this point and he isn't my favorite guy. A lot of draft folks seem to like him well enough to have him up there as one of the top tierish guys. Q did a comparison of him to Wiggins statistically and there have been a few fab articles that compare what he did his freshman year of college to a bunch of NBA wings and...short story Tatum looks very good when you look at those numbers.

....although Wiggins' freshman year numbers were actually not all that impressive given the hype around him, so I'm not sure how to think of Tatum's numbers, although he did out-produce Wiggins in a couple of areas I tend to rail on Andrew about: Rebounding and passing.

We are still waiting for Wiggins' athleticism to take him to the two-way impact player Flip hoped for when he traded Kevin Love for him. Let's hope that happens very soon. Unlike Wiggins, Tatum doesn't have elite athleticism.

Tatum is an extremely good basketball player. Where everyone seems to get hung up is that he isn't projected to be a very good 3 point shooter. He is a mid-range guy. My thought here.....not every player can be a great 3 point shooter. Sometimes, it feels like we totally write guys off because they can't shoot 3's. If you look at a guy like Tatum, he is a very solid prospect in most other areas. While I would love to have a prospect that does everything well when we pick, that doesn't seem to be an option. I can tell you that I prefer Tatum's overall skill over a guy like Markkennen who seems like a 1 trick pony to me.

I totally understand that we need long-distance shooting, but I hope we don't dismiss a talented guy like Tatum for only that reason.
