We have about $12 million in cap space and a 1-year deal wouldn't jeopardize our flexibility next summer. We clearly could have outbid Toronto and a young up-and-coming team like the Wolves would seem a good fit from Sullinger's perspective. The Wolves need to improve their rebounding and the PF position seems to be the most suspect. So why didn't Thibs pursue him? Does he have another move in mind that requires the money they'd have to pay Sullinger. Does Thibs have that much confidence in Dieng? Does Thibs not like Sullinger for some reason?

I wondered about that too, Lip, because we clearly could have outbid Toronto. My guess is that Thibs had some concern about Sullinger's fitness. It's no secret that Boston management and fans were frustrated with his up and down weight issues. He's too young to be as out of shape as he appears to be sometimes, and that may have been a red flag for Thibs.

There are a few teams that could have outbid the Raptors offer but didn't. Lets remember the Raptors are a Playoff team and they had an open spot for an experienced productive big with the loss of Biyambo. For Sullinger the Raps have been a pretty good organization and getting a shot to play minutes int eh playoffs is something you would want to have going for you looking toward the next contract.

I know it's only summer league but is there any credence to the idea that Thibs wants to see what he has in Dunn and Jones before he possibly offers up Ricky for something? I think it's highly unlikely and I'm not sure I wanna get rid of Ricky right now becuz of Dunn looking like a possibility at sg. But is there a chance that Rubio still gets dealt? Not starting another debate on that at all. Yes or no question.
Not sure Sullinger fits the defensive mold Thibs is looking for either Imo

Pork, The way Layden was talking during the interview they did in the summer league game today, it doesn't sound like Ricky is going anywhere for now. Layden talked about Rubio mentoring Dunn as well as brought up the idea that the two could play together for stretches.

It's just really hard for me to envision Thibs handing the keys over to Dunn and Tyus Jones as full-time PG rotation. Right now he has plenty of minutes he can give to Dunn backing up Rubio for 15-18 minutes a night plus another 5-10 minutes playing behind LaVine. He should easily average 20-25 MPG.

Oh, and I would hope that you of all people took notice at Dunn being out already with an injury (concussion) after only two summer league games. And let's not forget the shoulder issues he had earlier in his career at Providence. I'm sure you would agree that it would be prudent to keep Ricky around since Dunn seems injury prone!

Sullinger is a weak defender and offers no rim protection, and despite his rebounding abilities, I don't think the wolves see enough in him. Character two-way players is the company line. I don't see sully as a two way player.

Lip, you really didn't pull the injury card out with Dunn already did you?! Oh boy! I promise I'm not gonna be the person policing negative comment on Dunn but cmon. I hope there was some sarcasm there.

Duke -- I didn't say anything about injuries related to Dunn. Q mentioned Dunn's concussion, which I hadn't heard about.

Q is poking fun at the "Rubio is injury prone" crowd. Is that crowd still in existence btw?

Just sat down to watch the replay of last night's game and saw Dunn was out with a concussion. Disappointing. Hope the kid's ok and I wonder when he suffered it. Maybe on Poetl's jaw! Concussions are no joke. I'd love to see him again this week, but it's probably best to shut the kid down for the week.

Hope it's a mild one and that Dunn recovers quickly and fully. I'm sure we've seen the last of him in summer league. That's unfortunate but his recovery should be the priority.

As usual, we have one of the worst teams in summer league. Even worse now with Dunn out.

Sorry Lip, it was Q who said "injury prone"
