Hello! That moron Chad Ford has us taking Ellenson at 5.I don't watch college hoops and Cam has a pretty good track record on college prospects. So has Cam given his opinion of him in this thread? (I don't feel like going through 84 pages of this thread)

If not. What do you think of him Cam? A top 5 talent for us?

Here's what I said about him about ten days ago. I'm just going to re-post it for you since I still stand by it and it'll save you the time of searching for it.

"Ellenson's intriguing until you really watch him defensively. He's not good defending in space and that's a problem when you figure his best position offensively would be power forward. And while he gets touted as a stretch big, it'd be natural to wish he was a bit more efficient from 3P distance to back that claim (28.8% on 3.2 3PA). He does have shooting ability, but if it's limited to 18-feet, he loses value significantly. Again, he's probably a top-10 pick, but likely not for us."

In my opinion, Jon Krawczynski is the most reputable and dependable guy when it comes to Wolves reports. He had this exchange with a fan earlier talking about Chad Ford's mock:

?@ThisIsMich81: @APkrawczynski @DWolfsonKSTP Darren and Jon do you think the Wolves are as high on Ellison as Ford says high enough to pass on Buddy?

@APkrawczynski: @ThisIsMich81 @DWolfsonKSTP Chad doesn't hear from the people in the Wolves organization that make the decisions.

I hadn't really looked at Ellenson before just now. He looks really skilled and his shot does look really nice. To be though he moves around more like a center than a PF although he is very fluid. Like Cam said hi defending in space looks like it will take a lot of work and he also for some weird reason gets worked inside despite looking like he houses guys on the other end. He looks like a combo of Dieng (heavy feet) Love (variety of skill and lack of wow lift) and a little Bjelica (he can dribble the ball pretty well for a guy that size) the problem is none of those guys blow you away athletically I the traditional sense. 17ppg and 10rebs ain't bad as a freshman in college but I wonder if he gets to the NBA some of his advantage being bigger more skilled becomes a problem. He really needs to be able to shoot and that's not a sure thing. How does he develop physically? Interesting prospect.

I love this kid. I just don't see how he isn't successful at the next level. Hopefully this is the first year we move up in the lottery... No. 1 pick please! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq33T1MdJs4

I would trade the 3-5th pick for Russell if the Lakers wanted it.

As I've stated before, Bazz and a tuna fish sandwich was a fair offer for Snitch Russell. Now, I might be shortchanging Bazz. Keep our pick. Dunn will be just as good (maybe better as he is a better defensive game) and without the baggage if you want to go the point guard route. I wouldn't be too shocked if Payton turns out to be a better pro than Snitch. That said, we might get lucky and get a chance for Ingram, Simmons or Bender. Buddy's not too shabby either. With a defensive minded coach, I like Brown a lot. No room for Snitch. There is equal or better talent at our draft spot and we have a locker room of good guys , so no need to ruin that and also scare away potential free agents. Plus I suspect he'd complain about being a backup.

There more I look into Sabonis, the more I want him. I think he would be a perfect fit for us. First off he is a fantastic rebounder and would help make up for Wiggins and LaVines lack of rebounding. This year he had double diget rebounds in 70% of his games play. He plays sound fundamental defense. The kid was schooled in the fundamentals. While he doesn't have elite length, he doesn't jump out of a gym to block shots, he is always in the right place and has good enough agility to stay with his man. He also plays very strong. He plays with great intensity and isn't afraid to put his body on the line. He seems like a glue player, which is the type of players I feel we need. Offensively he has great touch and good range on his jumper. Plays well in the pick and roll. Very good post player. He isn't his dad when it comes to court vision and passing, but he is a solid passer.

I do not see Sabonis being a superstar. I do see him at his peak being a double double machine while playing sound team basketball. I think he and Towns would be a terrific front court.

Sabonis is probably my favorite player in the draft. Is he the most talented? No. Is he the best for for the Wolves? Honestly that's a tough question but if he becomes the solid player you suggest he would be a good fit. I'll say this about Sabonis and it was a similar thing I said about Love after hai rookie year. If Carlos Boozer can become a 20ppg scorer with his skill set coming out of college there is plenty of reason to think Sabonis could do it too. I'm not banking on it but he has the potential to have a nice diverse offensive game.

Did anyone watch the Final four games last night? I ended up doing something else and I came back home and remembered that they happened and looked at the scores. WOW.

Sabonis may be my favorite player as well. You both had great descriptions of the type of talent he is, and what he can develop into. He has one of the lowest bust potential factors in my opinion. His floor is a Nick Collison, and anything more would be icing on the cake. That's the exact player at PF/C we need moving forward.

Collision is a good floor comparison. At minimum he is a quality bench big. I think he will be a 15/10 guy and play solid team ball on both ends of the floor. He is the type of player we need to compliment our big three.
