My current thoughts on our three mystery big men:

KG: Too much evidence that he is done, so I'm predicting the Wolves buy him out and use his roster space on one more bench wing. I think he really wants to play and is waiting for a miracle...to wake up one morning and have his leg be 100%. But that's not likely to happen, and KG has to much pride too sit on the bench in a suit all year. Two recent developments lead me to this conclusion: Lip's disclosure that Thibs and KG haven't even talked this summer (very odd, since they had a relationship in Boston), and Glen Taylor's comment that KG's injury is more than just a knee (it's the entire leg).

Pek: My friend who got to spend 45 minutes with Thibs reiterated his Pek story on the golf course last Friday (2 guys in the foursome hadn't heard the story). He said again how much he enjoyed talking with him, but that he got absolutely nothing of value during their discussion until the last 5 minutes when Thibs said "Pek is done". Further evidence that Pek is not in their plans is that Thibs said in Vegas that he has had face to face meetings with all his players. This hasn't happened with Pek, because he has been in Europe since the season ended. I agree with Lip that Pek doesn't retire or get bought out, but will be our 15th inactive all season. I was intrigued by Arnie Kander's remarks that Pek will be ready by pre-season, but even if that's true, I think Thibs will have him behind Aldrich on the depth chart. Pek plays this year only if there are several injuries and Kander is right.

Payne: I think he's on the roster this year, but behind Jordan Hill on the depth chart so likely inactive most games when we are healthy. The only thing that changes this is if Thibs thinks his 3-point shooting is reliable. If so, a hustle guy who can also hit the three might leapfrog Hill. I have no problem with either one as our third PF.

I think Hill continues to be overlooked on this forum. Unless he's completely checked out mentally, he's at the very least a serviceable rotation player.

It's sort of amusing (and sorta sad) that 8 years later after that draft day trade Mike Miller is in higher demand (meaning he will be on a roster) than OJ Mayo.

Cocaine (or whatever Mayo can't stop taking) must be a helluva drug.

So is Miller high on basketball? He is my guy but man I can't believe he is still getting a contract.

He moved like an old man about 3 or 4 years ago. I don't get it either.

[Note: I hated him so much on the Wolves. Pass up wide open shot... throw it back to Foye or Telfair 27 feet from the hoop with 3 seconds left on the shot clock instead.]

Yes. His time here may have been one of the most bizarre stints I have ever seen as a Wolves fan...and that saying something.

Per RW: R.J. Hunter, James Young, Ben Bentil and John Holland are "in position to fight" for Boston's final roster spot according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe. The Celtics gave guaranteed deals to Tyler Zeller, Gerald Green and Demetrius Jackson on Saturday, so Boston's roster is nearly complete.

I was surprised they signed Zeller for $16 million over 2 years when he didn't get regular rotation time last year. Its good to see Boston tap that capspace. Boston and the Sixers may cut some good players since they have well over 15 players signed.

Yeah there could be some interesting players to pick up from teams that have too many players. There are some interesting names listed there from Boston.

I was just looking at the Suns Roster and wondering if John Jenkins might be the odd man out. They mutually agreed to push back his guaranteed date for his contract till October. Jenkins said he really wants to stay. It sorta reminds me of last year when the Wolves and Lorenzo Brown worked out their deal to push back his guarantee. I seem to remember someone on this board was a big John Jenkins fan.

I would think the Wolves if they only have one open roster spot (assuming they have one available from the KG Pek Payne bunch) they would like a guy that's more of a vet but getting a younger somewhat experienced player wouldn't be too bad either.

Portland guard CJ McCollum has reached agreement on a four-year, $106M maximum contract extension, league sources tell @TheVertical.

If anybody could tell me where they're at from a cap standpoint, that would be appreciated.

If you want to get a ton of cap and contract stuff (maybe too much but it's good stuff) this guy is worth following.

Blazers figure to pay guards Damian Lillard, C.J. McCollum, Allen Crabbe and Evan Turner a combined $86M in 2017-18.

Edit:

I will also add that I assume this extension won't kick in till next season so they will just be paying him his rookie deal which is around 3 million this year.

http://www.basketballinsiders.com/portland-trail-blazers-team-salary/

I still don't get why they signed Turner to that big deal. I mean at get the fit a PG type SF with 2 dynamite shooters at the guard spots with Lilliard and CJ plus Crabbe but man that's a lot of money locked up between those 4 guys.
