I am still pro hinkie, he had bad lottery luck and embiid not playing really hurt him. I mean look at the wolves it took then 2 number 1 picks to get us out of the rut (still not fully out). It took Clippers getting blake. The Kings haven't bench able to rebuild because of no top pick.

I know I am in the minority but I liked the plan. I believed the national media forced him out. Also they still have assets in Okafor, noel, embiid (injuries are massive concern but still would only be a junior in college), best European prospect in saric, possible 2 top 4 picks and a ton of cap space.

I agree with what you say here. If he thought the best he was gonna do was bottom of the first round then he doesn't have much to lose by going back to school. Worst case scenario (other than some crazy career ending health issue) is him making a ton of money playing in Europe whenever he decides to leave school.

Wow. I guess I need to take another look at this kid. A big part of my not wanting him was because he was rumored to stay overseas for several more years.

I didn't realize that was part of your angle. Him being free to come over right away is going to make things interesting. I didn't realize him not coming over right away was a possibility.

Hinkie did some things that the Colangelo's and the sizes will reap the benefits of. Overall I think he probably did a lot of harm in multiple ways to their organization and culture etc. The guy swung for the fences and brutally added assets. Think about the established players he traded away.

MCW sort of a fringe starter type at this point.

Jrue Holiday has had big problems starting healthy

Thad Young a nice player might be having his best all around year ever.

So which of those guys would the Sixers really like to have now? Which guy would you rather have than the pick and cap space? my point is that while Hinkie was a running joke he made some deals that made a lot of sense and while his team continued to suck he followed out his process. The key now is they gotta hit on these draft picks they have acquired and or use their assets to fill the team with talent. It sounds like Hinkie had various issues and the comparisons to Kahn may have some merit in them overall not working with others.

Overall it's not a surprise he moved on one way or another but the way it's ended has been sort of odd and quick.

It's not about that it seems. The new rule allows players to enter the draft and do some of the pre-draft activities and then pull out if they're not projected to go where they want. Seems like Allen just wants to go back to school for other reasons.

I thought the author made some pretty strong points.

Anyone else have thoughts on Hinkie's letter if you are interested or bored enough to read it? Lol

I made it three pages before I realized I went on 13 pages. That's not a resignation letter. That's the unabomber's manifesto. The guy must be a little nuts. When you quit, you give a brief statement thanking the organization and then go away. You don't write a 13 page rambling manifesto filled with quotes ranging from Abe Lincoln to Warren Buffett. This just seals the fact that his legacy will be a clown show. It sort of reminds me of David Kahn's parting comments saying he had the Wolves totally set up for success and the next GM will reap the benefits. Right.

It was true though. Nobody was going to make it worse.
