According to Spotrac, they are $10m over the cap, but $9m short of the Lux, and 9th overall. Owning the 2nd most share of the World's 3rd largest company is good.

Harkless is still a part of their team also at this point so he will likely add to that number. It sounds like he is considering accepting his 4.6 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted FA after this year. It seems like he could be the odd man out long term since Aminu is still signed for that bargain deal for a couple more years.

I wonder if the Blazers consider an extension for Plumblee next.

CJ was gonna get a max deal at some point from someone and Portland clearly wanted him back and he wanted to be there. It makes all the sense in the world to get it done now he is locked up for 4 years no drama etc.

I don't think that's what makes people shake their heads though. For me it's signing Turner for all that money and then matching Crabbe (I think he is gonna be a good player) that's just a lot. Maybe they didn't expect Crabbe to get that type of money. If they are willing to go crazy into the luxury tax good for them.

Portland being over the cap is good news for the Wolves. I think they are one of the weakest teams in the league up front and are going to realize it this year, and now they won't be able to fix their big man situation through free agency. They and Houston look like really poor defensive teams to me.

They won't need to. Just 4 guys bombing 3's and a cheap big to knock it back out to them.

Portland has really hurt their flexibility going forward. I just don't see how they move to a contender the way they've gone about it. On a side note Crabbe was working out at my health club the other day. He had a big smile on his face. I wonder why.

Man LST really dislikes the Blazers. Wonder what they did to him. Oh well.

McCollum is a max player? He's a nice player, a very good player, but is he really a max player?

I am so happy the Wolves didn't go off the deep end this summer, in a couple years most of these contracts are going to be major burdens on their teams. What this offseasons average to good players are getting paid is not the new normal, once cap space starts tightening up next offseason good luck to those teams trying to trade away these contracts!

It almost feels like fate has finally dealt the Wolves a great hand, not just in terms of young talent, top coaching, but in terms of timing. Just as their youth start coming up for their second contracts the stupid money will have largely dried up, star players will be getting paid, role players will once again get scraps, maybe not fair, but at least the Wolves shouldn't have any stupid money on their payroll!
