He typically hovers around 117-118 defensive rating but with Chicago there team defense is pretty awful which impacts that. When you look at individual metrics it shows the team performs significantly better when he is on the floor.

If we're talking about adding anyone other than Ayo, Phillips, and resigning Conley, I've got a couple thoughts.

First, we'd have to cut someone, right? Juzang?

Second, I don't want Cam Thomas. Just don't like his attitude at all. Dude's a bucket, but plays like he's the only guy on his team and doesn't respect his coaches. We can't have that at all.

Third, given that we've shipped out Miller and added a couple guards, we'd probably need to add a big, right?

Q-is-here wrote: Thu Feb 05, 2026 2:31 pm Thomas seems a little redundant with Ayo and Bones in terms of archetype, i.e. scoring bench guards with questionable defense.

I could see still adding a pure game manager/ball security PG as a safety valve/insurance policy if needed (Conley being the most obvious choice or Tyus if bought out).
Conley has officially been waived...
Ok, he's definitely coming back then, right?
I think they have to wait 48 hours for the player to clear waivers. Unless his feelings are hurt, I would think Mike is back over the weekend.

Wolves currently have 13 players under contract. They must get to 14 so at least one player must be added.

We can add a buyout guy in Conley, or we can sign a 2 way guy to a regular contract. Juzang has 3 games left on his 2 way, or maybe they have seen enough out of Rocco to give him a long term nba cheap contract

I hate to say this but I don't want us to bring Conley back as a player. He doesn't have any value in that slot. If he's open to a coaching role then sure. We can sign one of the waived guys that can actually bring something to the team besides wisdom.

-could he an option
Cam Thomas, as someone who watches him plenty, seems like he'd rather be the best guy on a team even if it's overseas rather than be the bench player he's destined to be on a contender.

It got to the point where he'd be visibly pouting on the bench because there were moments where Jordi would rather close out with Mann or Demin than him.

He's already an elite shooter and smart passer/ball handler. If he is truly as good as you and others say he is on defense then we just committed the most one-sided trade in history and he should be starting over DDV and play at least 34 MPG.
Q think about it if Ayo wasn't good at defense why would they have brought him in over various other guys including White? I've heard over the years Ayo is a defensive player that's why he got on the floor with the Bulls. How good is he? I can't say but I think he is one of those guys you trade for because he isn't a liability on defense in the playoffs. I'd guess he was reasonably sought after. He is sort of that type of guard that can fit in around a lot of players and do multiple things reasonably well. On offense we are talking about a guard with a. Career FG% over 50 and all he does is basically take shots in the paint and shoot 3's.

That's the sense I have of him too (I don't watch him much) which is a bit of a shame he seems pretty talented. Probably some of what drives him to be the bucket he is now works against him in terms of long term success in the league. I'd guess he goes somewhere with opportunity for more minutes than he would get here.

I think adding Conley giving you an option to play either him or Bones if you need a guard is kind of a solid combo of options. Hyland gives you scoring and some good overall play some nights. If you need someone to go out there be solid and do stuff but maybe never score Conley would be the lever to pull. Like some else said maybe a big someone that plays PF would be handy to add now.
