Also think Rudy has a super high IQ. You can't be a dominate defensive player like he has in his career without that

We could have had Turner for a lot less than it took to get Rudy. Just saying.

I expected this take after our first meeting against the Pacers! ;-)

1. Russell answered my "let's trade DLO and start JMac" mantra by putting the team on his back and doing more than any other player late in the fourth quarter to get the win.

2. Gobert can be frustrating with his mediocre hands and what I perceive as a lack of toughness, but he had a huge game tonight and was obviously a key to the win.

3. Naz Reid was fantastic. He looked like Vando the way he was flying around the court on both ends. Terrific game from Naz as always.

4. JMac and Nowell were also terrific tonight. Credit them and our entire second unit for the critical role they played in getting the win.

5. I mentioned earlier that this team lacks physical and mental toughness. I think that's true in spite of the nice win tonight. But I think there are three players who could qualify as tough - Edwards, Austin Rivers, and Naz Reid.

I also want to give prop to Mcdaniels. The wolves are now 11-4 when he plays 25 minutes and 1-8 when he doesn't. He is such an X factor for the wolves

Good point, kek. He didn't stand out to me as I was watching the game - except for that monster one-handed dunk. But i just looked at the box score and noticed he scored 12 points hitting 5 of 10 FG attempts the 2-4 three-point attempts. He also had two steals. I think it's definitely fair to label him an X factor for this team.

I also should have mentioned Edwards. His 6 turnovers were an eye sore, but his overall effort and stat line were tremendous: 26 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Those are eye-popping stats. I love that he got to the line 10 times and hit 9 of those shots. I'll take his 6 turnovers as a reflection of his youth. That's a tendency that will tend to improve over time with age and experience. Those other stats are the exciting ones because those are the things you want to see in a young player as a sign of effort an IQ. Rebounding, steals and getting to the line are all signs of a high motor and Edwards has been consistently putting up terrific numbers in those categories for the past month. Assists are a sign of IQ - having a feel and eye for your teammates and helping them put points on the board.

Ant has mental lapses defensively, gets sticky hands on offense too often and makes mistakes that are often cause by his own exuberance or trying to do too much. But he almost always makes his presence felt on the court one way or another and he's consistently producing as a scorer and in other respects. The negatives are the sorts of things that will moderate with experience. His positives are the foundation becoming a great player. All of this bodes well for Anthony Edwards and the Wolves.

These last 3 games from Ant I can live with for occasional dumb plays. He is playing his ass off. You can tell he is getting tired not because he's out of shape but because he is playing super hard. These next 20 games without KAT are so critical in the long term development of Ant

I like Turner but he was on my stay away list. Bad feet injuries, bad rebounder for a center, can leave after this year.

Solid player but still cool with the wolves going more expensive in Gobert

Overall I am very happy when the win tonight. Pacers are really solid and the wolves swept the season series.

Wolves continue to play with this effort they are going to win games. Turnovers need to go down. Shooting is still not great, Dlo really mad the 3pt numbers respectable in the 4th. We saw why Garza was not getting minutes and that is because he is so slow on D (to be fair Turner is a tough matchup).

Wolves need to figure out though how to defend when Rudy sits. They just have to.

Happy with the win. 2 games out of the 4 seed. Let's go a little run here

I also want to say that long break for the wolves has to be great for Rudy.

Rudy went from the playoffs to being the best player on his euro team to training camp where Kat was not healthy to getting Covid to learning to play with all new teammates.

Hopefully this is the player we get for the rest of the year

Rudy is a tremendous player. It's just the fit with KAT here that never made sense, and I don't see it ever working to the expected championship contender it was sold as.
