No surprise that the Knicks really want to jettison Randle's terrible contract. Perhaps this opens up an opportunity for the Wolves to get Murray without giving up any draft picks. Here's the three-way scenario:

Wolves Get: Murray + Randle
Knicks Get: Jason Richardson
Spurs Get the following:
DLO
Naz
Knicks' 2023 1st-round pick (top 4 protected)
Mavs' 2023 1st-round pick via Knicks (already top 10 protected)
Knicks' 2025 1st-round pick (top 4 protected)

Looks like a really nice deal for the Spurs. They get three 1st-round picks and two of those three could easily be lottery picks in the 5-14 range. Those picks are more front-loaded than they would otherwise be because of the extra 2023 pick the Knicks can offer courtesy of Dallas. They also get a promising young big in Naz Reid and a good PG for next season who at the end of the season becomes major additional cap room.

Looks like a good deal for the Knicks because they offload the bad Randle contract and they get a bonus by receiving a very solid two-way rotation SG in Richardson.

What about the Wolves? Well, it's a mixed bag. We'd be stuck with Randle's contract. But we'd have a huge upgrade and perfect fit at the PG position in Murray without giving up any future picks or any of our young talent like McDaniels, Nowell, Bolmaro, Moore, Kessler, Minott or Spagnolo. Interesting possibility. But I just can't get beyond being stuck with Randle and his $24-29M contract for the next four seasons. Yuck!!

If you can get us Murray and Randle without losing any draft picks you should be working with Connelly. Im totally down with that deal.

Ya I don't think the Knicks are offering 3 1st round picks just to dump Randle

Good deal for San Antonio, in my opinion. Three first-round picks is a haul and they took back an expiring deal so no harm is done to their future payroll. I truly think this was selling high for the Spurs while Dejounte Murray had two years left on his current deal.

And it makes sense for Atlanta. Both can be true. They needed another guard that could take pressure off of Trae Young. They also really need Murray's perimeter defense. They certainly paid more than I would have for him, but I can understand why they made the move they did.
