Me personally I am not trading anyone for draft picks within reason. We don't need to get younger, this is the time to package a player or two with the draft pick to get a damn good player.

We'll get the opportunity to draft a very good player if we get a top 5 pick and on a rookie deal. If we want a good veteran player we have free agency.

Agreed, I articulated my point poorly, I am not trading a young player like shabazz or dieng for a draft pick. Imo if the wolves don't have a top 2 pick I am looking to possibly trade the pick for a good youngish veteran

Dieng turns 26 tomorrow. I am not sure how much more he will fill out at this point.

But the wolves are not getting a lottery pick for dieng and the odds of getting a better player than dieng are low. Dieng is a top end backup center in this league

I am not saying you trade him because you won't get much for him. I am not sure you get a lottery pick for anyone outside Towns and Wiggins on this team. LaVine you might, but the Shabazz and Dieng will not bring a lottery pick back in return.

Two thoughts.

First, there's only one legit player in this draft. Everybody else mentioned as a high pick looks to me like a mid or even late first round pick if they were in previous drafts. There's potential, but that's about it. Simmons is the real deal and would be the top pick or close to it in most drafts.

Second, I think Dieng is a very good player and we should not look to trade him, especially not for a pick in this draft (see above). Dieng was the #1 mid-range jump shooter in the entire league last year, and he's still a great mid-range shooter this year, and nearly 90% from the line for a big man! His hands aren't always the best, and he still needs to be a little more careful to avoid getting travel calls, but he passes the ball pretty well and can finish around the rim. Defensively he makes some mistakes, but he also plays pretty good defense most of the time and gets some nice blocks and steals. Advanced defensive stats also suggest he's a positive for us on that end, and that's something we need as a team.

SameOldDrew throwing out a ridiculous (to me) comment this afternoon. Brandon Ingram and Kris Dunn are legitimate prospects. I like Simmons as much as the next guy, but he's not a perfect prospect in his own right and I have those two right at the top with him. There's also another handful of guys that have the talent to be All-Star players as long as they continue to work on their game and their bodies: Heild, Murray, Labissiere, Valentine.

Make no mistake about it, though, Ingram and Dunn are just as "for real" as Simmons is.

Cam for those of us that haven't seen him yet what makes Dunn such an impressive prospect?
