Mmmm, "super utility guy" is exactly the kind of players we need. A wing that can defend and shoot the 3 - more please!
Until Wiggins started going nuts this year, JR would have easily been our best wing along with RoCo.

Seems like a bit of a desperation move to me. At 4-8 I guess they felt they had to do something.

Meh. I feel like he's had multiple chances to be humble along the way... but chose the selfish route every time.
So... meh. I'm not feeling the redemption tour yet.
Yep that's fair. I'm cheering for him to kinda figure it out now. If he does the won't stick. I also think if the right team that's maybe more built and willing to use him as more than a floor spacer might be good. Also Portland doesn't switch everything so that might help on the other end which is the bigger problem. We will see.

I know that team is devastated in the frontcourt. So he'll be a playing the 4 there?

There's a lot of teams in the league that could, or should, have interest in a 20-year old combo guard that can score the rock efficiently. What a team would be willing to give up in order to get him is the bigger question.

My suspicion is that Blazers will trade McCollum before Simons. I think that would actually be the smarter play. They could get a nice haul for CJ in other positions of need and not lose a ton in the guard spot with Simons stepping in. Simons is legit, I can't see why the Blazers would want to move off his potential in the upward trajectory he's on. They'd be better off riding this year out and see where the chips land, Simons' play could end up making him an even bigger asset.
Portland is clearly desperate. Wondering if they would do a Dieng/2nd for Bazemore deal. Opens up nearly $17MM for Wolves next year, and gets Portland some much needed front court depth.
