We absolutely need a starting caliber wing that can defend and hit the 3 come back to us in the Butler trade. Whether that's Richardson or Covington or someone else, that has GOT to be a priority.
I like Okogie and his energy, but I'm not convinced he has the outside shot to be a regular starter, at least this season. And we already have two reluctant long range shooters back there with Wig and Teague.
You can't have enough wings. Look at Boston.
Tatum.
Hayward.
Brown.
They all basically play the same position. Who cares. That's actually a good thing when they're interchangeable. Let's get a guy like Richardson and pray that a guy like Okogie ends up being at his level or better someday... and play both of them next to a MUCH-improved Wiggins (ahem) and keep pace with where the league is going.

Nice. Love his energy. He's going to get torched though if he always sags off his guy when someone else is penetrating into the lane. I remember him in Summer League too being virtually everywhere. I mean, 3 blocks last night? You just don't see 2-guards doing that kind of stuff unless it's a young D-Wade.
With a little more discipline, I think he can eventually be elite defensively. Unfortunately, we don't have enough players on this squad with that kind of dog in them.

On one of his recent podcasts Dane Moore said after watching film of Okogie he actually thought he might be farther along defensively than Dunn as a rookie. He said he though okogie was better at getting through screens and while there are spots he doesn't do the right thing defensively he seems more intelligent than Dunn. It was an interesting take and we will see how Okogie looks when he is playing real NBA games. Regardless Okogie's defensive potential looks pretty legit which is fairly exciting.

You know what other guard out there gets a lot of blocks? Josh Richardson.

Yup, we'd have a couple perimeter bulldogs with Okogie and Richardson. And while I wouldn't put Tyus Jones in the bulldog category, he has elite anticipation skills and gets a ton of steals. We'd have a chance at fielding a legit perimeter defense with those three on the floor together. Offense might be a bit more problematic....

I read that he'd been smoking a ton of pot with Woody Harrelson and Willie Nelson a lot in Hawaii, and I guess there's your proof!

Love the defensive hustle and the lateral quicks to stay with his guy and recover from the pick. Man, it would've been nice to see Butler and Okogie defending on the wing together.
