It's a myth that Zach can't play the 2 with Rubio. He gives a tremendous 2nd ball handling option and additional scorer on the floor. He's playing really good basketball.
Agreed. More than anything as a team we just start playing much faster with the Zach next to Ricky and Wiggs. Rubio now has two amazing targets to find on the fast break, not to mention Towns. Also Zach is much more aggressive when he is playing the two which obviously is his more natural game. It just makes sense not only for Zach but for the team as a whole. MITCHELL!
Mstermisty wrote:Wow absolutely terrible technical foul call. Amazing finally the Wolves got the big break. Still gotta finish though.
Nobody knows what he said.
Also chris paul has been a douche to her all her career, real bad blood, that might have been a reputation tech
I was so happy when I saw CP3 got that technical. He is a little punk who mugs his opponents on the court and whines every time he gets foul called. So glad Wolves beat those whiny Clippers.

You don't even ask when, you just get it done. In fact Kobe, why don't you buy into the team with KG.
Personally, I'd prefer Wiggins and LaVine to play a different brand of basketball than Kobe Bryant. Even though Kobe did it his way and will end up an all-time top 10 player... he often played selfishly. I don't think that's the same path for success for most players, regardless of athleticism.
Just look back to Tuesday's game. Those were terrible shots. They just so happened to go in.

I don't want them playing a similar style but to learn some of his moves would be helpful.
I watched this one before work... so I fast-forwarded a bit more than usual. For example, did Deandre Jordan shoot any free throws? I didn't have to watch them!
My thoughts:
- T. Prince went 35 games without a free throw? Even Trenton Hassell is blushing over that ridiculous stat.
- Towns was off early. He seemed reluctant to battle Jordan inside. But then went for 17 / 9 in the second half. I like him. I like him a lot. It's good to see that the kid battles. If for no other reason... keeping this kid battling is enough for me to be in the "Win as much as you can" camp.
- Wiggins had another efficient game and hit some big-time shots. As with young guys, they came on the heels of two stinkers. But, overall... it's been a nice two-week stretch with Wiggins hitting at least 50% of his shots in 6 of the past 8 games. And at least 46% in 9 of his past 12. Even more impressive... I saw him battle inside a couple of times. (Still would like him to run that break harder though. With a guy like Rubio... that should be his first thought.)
- Rubio with a very Rubio game. 1 - 6 fg. Disruptive defensively. A plus on the court overall.
- Even Bjelica is giggling at this point over the way Dieng is being treated with that first-step travel call. The one tonight was egregious. Overall, the guy is a bit limited, but he competes and is a capable player... a rotation guy even if the Wolves were closer to playoff contenders.
- The defense on Redick was good. Granted, the guy missed a few open ones. But overall, they didn't let one of the league's hottest shooters just step right into one.
- 8 three pointers! Now, was that a fluke? I dunno. But I do know the Wolves came out shooting them more often than usual at the very beginning of the game.
- I'm glad LaVine was out there in the 4th quarter. WHAT? The kid has come a long way from last season.
The Clippers didn't play well. They didn't play hard for stretches. Who cares... it's about time the Wolves take advantage of a time when the other team doesn't bring it. Good win... especially coming on the tail end of a back-to-back after losing to a dreadful team the night before.
I know we rip Mitchell for a lot. And I know he deserves some of it. But the Wolves played harder than the Clippers tonight... after playing a close game the night before. Give the man credit for having his team ready for this one.

I don't think working out with Kobe means they will become Kobe clones. Plenty they can learn from one of the all time greats other than selfish play.

Sure. The guy knows his stuff. Obviously. And he can definitely teach them about drive, determination and so many other things if nothing else.
But so much of what Kobe does seems to be for Kobe... I don't see him becoming a great mentor. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way.
It's like earlier in the season when he was complaining about his teammates not sharing the basketball to the media. Really? How is he not more self-aware when he says such silly comments?
I would be thrilled if Zach and Andrew trained with Kobe. In his prime Kobe had all the tools combined with incredible intensity. If Kobe could help Andrew become more than a scorer and play with more intensity, I'd love it. I think Zach has the intensity but he really needs work on defense and passing. Lets hope this happens this summer.

My points weren't to discredit Kobe Bryant the player.
But a good player doesn't = a good mentor. Or coach. Remember, Magic Johnson held the honor of coaching the longest losing streak in Lakers history that this year's team was chasing.
Here's one man's take on the difference between Kobe and everybody's favorite Timberwolves mentor: http://www.slate.com/articles/sports/sports_nut/2007/06/kobe_and_kg.html
