The Wolves are barely on the map as it is. Why? Because of countless front office mistakes. Did KG turn the Nets into a winning franchise? Was it KG's mentorship and leadership that led Boston to a title or was it his play on the court?
The fact that Flip brought in these run of the mill vets you speak of shows that he's not thinking long term for this franchise? Does he really have pressure into making sure the Wolves are good long term, because he has about the safest job security you can possibly get.
You know what changes a culture into a winning one? Good players. Wiggins was going to be good wither he had KG screaming in his ear or Mark Madsen.
Players are important but I don't see how Thad Young or a mid-first round pick in this draft are the level of players needed to make a difference for this franchise moving forward and that was the opportunity cost of getting KG. You get Thad, a mid-first round pick or KG. Which has the biggest impact on this team's future? I think its KG. Wiggins was going to become a good player regardless, but what about Payne, Dieng, Lavine, AB, Bazz? I think they are all better off with KG on this team rather than Thad or a mid-first round pick and that's what matters moving forward.

Great point, and all done in one paragraph. This is an investment in culture and is worth way more than a mid first round pick or a 9 million dollar a year back up 4 who doesn't rebound.

Really? Do you know whose a mid round pick? The current finals MVP. I'd rather have him over KG. I believe Giannis was the 15th pick as well. I would also rather have him then KG, but hey if you say KG will have a bigger impact in the future then those guys, then I can't help you

Now, was Thad worth a 1st round pick? I think we agree on that one!
Flip said it himself KG was worth more then that pick, and tried to get KG with it before but the Nets said no.

Well, I still side with Flip on that one, but I can certainly appreciate the argument against it. I just don't get the disdain on the Young for KG trade.

Did you even see my previous post about the 12th and 16th picks the past six years which is where we would have picked this year depending on if Miami makes the playoffs or not? The list was literally 50/50 if the player was a rotation player in the league or a bust. You mention some exceptions, but it is a 50/50 shot the guy even becomes something in this league based on the last 6 years. KG is a known commodity. You can have your 50% chance the player even becomes worthwhile at that draft spot. I'm going to take the known commodity and not have to flip a coin and pray the pick is in the right 50%.
