In spite of his slow start offensively this season, Towns is clearly a better overall player right now than in his previous 3 seasons. Okogie adds a lot. Gorgui looks better and Tolliver was a nice addition. Tyus has struggled with his shot so far this season, but he continues to be a terrific plus/minus guy and I see him taking his game to the next level as he gets more minutes. If he stays healthy, Rose has proven he will be a significant positive force for the team, both on the court and in the locker room, this season. Wiggins remains a wild card, but he's been giving great effort so far this season. I agree with you on Nunnally and Deng. I've been impressed so far by Nunnally's overall game. He has a pretty good handle, good instincts and decent athleticism to go with his advertised 3-point shooting. And yes, I see improvements in Thibodeau's coaching.

One thing I'll mention on Nunnally was I didn't think he was actually as tall and as long as people said he was. Watching him against NBA guys I was wrong. He is legit 6'7" height type with that terrific wingspan. He just looks like he actually knows how to play. The Iowa Wolves season started last night so I'm guessing at some point C.J. Williams (and Terrell) will be back down there soon once some guys are healthy but it looks like Nunnally has moved at least even with Williams there. I like C.J. but I think Nunnally has a chance to be a more consistent player because of his 3 point shooting and length. C.J. is kinda more of a more better version of MGH which isn't a bad thing.

Wow. The looks on his "teammates" faces tell the tale. It's unbelievable that the Wolves haven't dealt him.

I need more clarity on this GIF. What was the score when this was happening? It looks to me like he is having some fun mocking the Warriors fans. If the Wolves were ahead (as they were much of the game) I kind of like the enthusiasm he is showing. At least he is engaged unlike the other guys on the bench. Butler is a clown...always has been. But I don't see much in this GIF that makes me think of him unfavorably.

Look, there's a lot that Jimmy does that we can pick on, and that is well documented in the Jimmy hate thread. But making an issue out of Jimmy being Jimmy on the bench seems a little over the top to me.

I disagree, LST. Think about it for a moment. Your on the bench an know you're about to lose a really tough game that you had a chance to win up until the last few minutes of the last quarter. You're tired and, if you truly care about winning, you're going to be down. Next to you sits a teammate smiling and waiving his towel in concert with the opposing team's fans. Then layer on the fact that the teammate clowning around has publicly declared his desire to leave your team. Then layer on the fact that he didn't practice with the team before the season until the infamous practice when he put his hostility and self-absorbtion on prominent display. They layer on the fact that he takes days off to "rest" at the very beginning of the season either as a passive-aggressive signal that he wants to be traded or because he's not in shape due to the fact that he didn't participate in the pre-season with his teammates. The other guys on the bench looked like they should look under the circumstances - the opposite of smiling Wes Johnson or clowining Jimmy Butler.

Over-the-top to criticize Butler for his antics in that clip? Not even close. I'd say the criticisms have been pretty mild when considered in full context.

Except that this isn't at the end of the game. ESPN posted this at 11:23 PM EDT, and the Wolves were likely ahead at that time. In any event, and hour into the game it was clearly a hell of a game and one that demanded enthusiasm. I have a much bigger problem with the disinterested players on the bench than I do with Jimmy. In a 60-60 game with the world champs, I'll take a guy who is enthusiastically engaged in the game any day over a bunch of guys idly chatting on the bench like it's a Saturday afternoon game at the Y.

Lip, I'm with you in criticizing Butler for many of the things you mention in your thread, but not down with criticizing a guy not looking bored in a close game.

Lip I went back and looked to be sure and this happened with about 3 mins left to go in the 3rd quarter while the Wolves were ahead by 4 points.

Just as I suspected. I was following the game on Gamecast at that time (no cable in the apartment here in Delray Beach) and I was feeling much more like Jimmy than the bored guys next to him on the bench!

Note the guy that works for the Wolves behind Butler was cracking up. Nobody else seemed to even notice Jimmy. Dieng was talking with a teammate and C.J. Williams was hiding like a turtle in his warmup hoping he wasn't going to have to play PG minutes against the Warriors. Lol

To clarify: Lip if the situation was what you thought it was at the end of the game with him on the bench whenthe Wolves were about to lose...yes I'd be ripping Butler too. Even in this situation if people don't like it I'm ok with it I just wanted to provide a full context because I thought that was fair. Fortunately it wasn't too hard to find the spot where it happened in the game. :)

OK. Not as bad that it happened at the end of the 3rd when the Wolves were up by 4. But it still irritates me that he's interacting with the opposing team's fans rather than his own teammates. He looked totally disconnected from his teammates. You could see the other guys on our bench, especially Taj, not wanting to look at Butler. On display in that clip is the essence of Jimmy Butler - a loner.

Jimmy was trolling the Golden State crowd... How is this being spun into another thing to hate on Jimmy about? Relax, guys. You're searching for anything and everything to throw at the guy.

The biggest problem with Jimmy is that he's been a net negative on the court so far. Antics aside he just isn't playing a his peak level, he should have been at training camp and it's effecting his play. We should have a better record and every game counts in the West. Ship him out.

Agreed! People are rightfully down on Jimmy so they're looking for any little thing to bitch about... like I do with Wiggins!
