Also to those wondering why two years with the opt out after one, he get his 10 year qualification after this season so he can get 35% next off season versus 30% this off season.

Any championship Durant wins in GS should have an asterisk next to his name stating he was to big a pussy to win one on his own.

Re: Durant to Golden State
Not to damped the Durant bashing, but is it possible that in addition to a better chance to win titles, that he saw it as an opportunity to play a fun style of play, or that he looks as it as an opportunity to get yearly matchups in the Finals Durant vs LeBron which could be a matchup of legend?
Although I would have preferred him join an Eastern team for better league parity, the guy has been in OKC for quite a while and I can't blame him if he wants a title, even if he joined the favorites.

Re: Durant to Golden State
If Durant had played better in the 4th quarter of some of those playoff losses we could be talking about his current ring and not chasing one elsewhere. Point is, if he's leaving becuz he doesnt think OKC has what it takes he needs to take a look in the mirror .

I figured that was the reason. But that extra 5% comes with a huge risk when you consider the possibility of the 2-3 additional years he'd lose if his foot problem reoccurs or he suffers some other career-ending or career-limiting injury. If he was willing to take that risk, he could have stayed with OKC on a 1 plus player option deal and left is Westbrook bolted.
Bottom line was stated well by Pork. I also agree with Stephen A. Durant's move here makes LeBron's exodus from Cleveland to South Beach look heroic. More fun to play for the Warriors? Sorry, not buying that one. Durant signed with the Warriors to maximize his chance at a championship. He left a team that came within a few missed shots by Durant of making the NBA finals. He took the easy route by signing with GS. That's his prerogative and it doesn't mean he's a bad guy. But it knocks him down several pegs in my book as a professional athlete.

This is like Shaq leaving after the 1996 playoffs and joining Michael, Scottie, and Rodman. Durant didn't think he was good enough to beat them, so he joined him. That's why I question his competitive spirit.

The top guys like Durant make way more money off the court than on the court. Their NBA contracts are pretty much for their egos. Why do you think you don't hear a word from Steph about being underpaid, but endless bitching from John Wall when guys make more than him? Wall has a big ego and Curry doesn't. Durant could sign for the minimum and be fine financially. His basketball ego on the other hand says get that 35% because that's your place in the league.
