Vando is another good innings-eater type. He seems way more valuable in the regular season where his hustle and defense can wear a team down, but he can get played off the floor under the spotlight of a playoff series.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 10:38 amI’m glad Vanderbilt got a deal done and IMO this was a wise move for him. I assume this extension kicks in after this season. This season mid Level ended up being almost 12.5 million. Next offseason it will probably be at least 14 million. What will Vanderbilt’s first year of the contract start at like 10 or 11 million so a few million below the mid-level? The last year is a player option which is a nice move for him because either way he will be making a nice chunk of money. Vanderbilt decided security was a good move and the Lakers were willing to give him a good chunk of money to get the deal done.KG4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Sep 16, 2023 4:16 pmGood for Vando! Glad he got a bag and he earned it. I am glad we aren't paying him though and the only player I miss from the Rudy trade is Walker Kessler. Pat Bev, Bolmaro and Beasley also moved on and that opened up four roster spots which I think we have filled with players that fit the roster better and for less money.
It’s worth asking will Vanderbilt be worth the contract he signed? Idk it depends on how valuable he can be (bench player starter maybe he improves in some way) and how much salaries got up etc. if he had stayed here I assumed he would end up with a pay increase. I like Vanderbilt a lot but even with rising salaries this kind of money is different than him being a bargain at 4 million a year. Ideally the Wolves will have acquired young players to replace him and or Kyle Anderson. That’s what good teams are able to do.

I agree with all you said there. I will add that he could also be a valuable player depending on the matchup if he can really defend a really good player in a series.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 3:44 pmVando is another good innings-eater type. Re: Around the League - Draft and Trade News
May be for spot minutes. Part of the issue is the team he's on. AD is not a shooter either, so it's hard to play both Vando and AD for long stretches where neither guy can really space the floor. That gets exploited in the playoffs.Monster wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 9:49 pmI agree with all you said there. Re: Around the League - Draft and Trade News
Cam Payne signs a 1yr deal with the Bucks
Re: Around the League - Draft and Trade News
Devin Vassell a 5 year/148 million extension. I think similar for Jaden should be expected, he might get a max. Also no reason really for Jaden to sign an extension before the season
Re: Around the League - Draft and Trade News
The Athletic is reporting is a 5 years 135 plus incentives that could push it to 146 million. That deal doesn’t start till 2024 season so if he continues to be a really good 2-way wing that seems like it could end up being a pretty good deal. My guess is Vassell was like that’s too good of money to pass up. There is some real risk in waiting. Injury maybe you aren’t as good as you were last year…what about some freak accident or medical situation that is unforeseen? At some point some players might say…damn you know what that’s too much money to turn down to maybe make an extra however much money. I don’t know where Jaden is at and I also don’t know what the Wolves are offering. Are his agents advising him to go for the absolute most money he can get? This Vassell deal means the Wolves probably have to offer at least similar yearly money for Jaden’s camp to consider a deal. Another possible significant advantage of the Vassell deal is having him under contract for 6 more years. Sure guys can ask for a trade but still typically having a guy under contract is worth more than not.
Re: Around the League - Draft and Trade News
I'm not sure what Vassell's value is but he is one of their top players not on a rookie deal. San Antonio can afford to overpay guys now as they are in rebuilding mode and Wemby won't be getting a max deal for a while. Wolves are in a different situation unless they are fine with steamrolling past both aprons.
Re: Around the League - Draft and Trade News
I’ve been saying for a long time that Jaden will end up at around $30 million per year. Vassell’ s further deal confirms my expectation. Is there any team in the league that would prefer Vassell over Jaden? I doubt it.Monster wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 8:30 pmThe Athletic is reporting is a 5 years 135 plus incentives that could push it to 146 million.
