These trades are depressing. Does Randle have literally no trade value? Heard that if Toronto couldn't move brown they would buy him out. Seems we should be able to get some draft picks back for him at least right? I mean he's averaging 19 ppg and 7.3 reb and 4.5 assists on 47.2 percent shooting. He has his negatives but he's 30 years old and 4 years ago had mvp votes. His offensive rating is actually better than that season.
He has his warts but damn. A guy who is possibly gonna be bought out and Kyle Anderson? We just would have traded kat for DD and Kyle Anderson. I really hope we get a bit more than that. Seems like Connelly really has lowered the bar on expectations in a trade.
I may be wrong, but I agree with you, Crazy...seems like he should have more value. I'm probably much higher on Ju than perhaps anyone here, and that surprises me, because I've never been a fan of his during his career. But watching him every night has made me appreciate him more. He shot poorly...really poorly...yesterday, but he did so much more: 11 rebounds, 7 assists and a couple blocks. And as I watch him drive, draw the double, and kick to the open man, and further, as I notice Ant starting to get better at this, I wonder if Randle has been helpful in showing Ant how to handle doubles. I don't know, but they both seem to be reasonably effective at it recently, resulting in a much more potent offense. Let's move Ju if we can get something back that helps us, but I don't want a fire sale. If he can play like he has recently. I see him as a bargain at $31 million in today's salary environment.

I know this is part of the fun of this time in the season, but I haven’t seen a trade proposal here that I’d think Connelly would bite on. Have you guys, for real? Whether it’s Randle, Conley, NAW… I think it’s highly likely all those guys are here after the deadline. Maybe I’m wrong and you guys think there’s something actually brewing …

It depends how much they want to keep NAW and also how much they can stomach letting him walk. TC has a history of trading guys before letting them walk. He traded Beasley, Juancho and Vando here rather than let them walk because he knew he couldn't resign them.
If they want to keep him they essentially need to trade Julius. If they don't, TC will essentially want to trade him to get value.
The state of the Wolves cap and the trade market dictates that we've seen realistic scenarios on this board methinks.

The Phoenix Suns are trading their 2031 unprotected first to the Utah Jazz for three first-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The Suns are acquiring the least favorable firsts in 2025 of Cleveland/Minnesota, 2027 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah and 2029 of Cleveland/Minnesota/Utah.

This HAS to be part of the Butler talks intensifying report from yesterday. Man Phoenix went from one of the most promising young teams with a finals appearance under their belt, to present day. I know many here are frustrated with where the Wolves are but most fan bases feel the same or worse about their team too. I am bullish that the Wolves are still in a good place relative to the field.

Completely understand people still appreciate Mike Conley vet leadership and yes he can still hit an open 3. However I think it would be a very solid move to move off Mike Conley. The Wolves currently would be 15 million under the second apron if Naz and Randle opt in. Now we are all worried that Randle opts in but trading Mike gets us to 26 million under the second apron. With trading Mike the wolves can bring back Naz, Naw and stay under the second apron even if Randle opts in. They would also be picking up a 2nd round pick in this option. Opens playing time for Dilly in probably a lost season (When I say lost season I am saying title contending is slim to none right now). The wolves would not need to attach a pick to trade Randle. Randle then becomes an expiring so there is a better chance they can get value for Randle in the trade market with him being a true expiring. The wolves also could trade Randle + another player to try and get a true max player.
Trading Mike really opens up flexibility next year when it comes to signing players, making trades, picking up an asset albeit small, allows young players to play and it eliminates the damage Randle can do for opting in. It might actually increase the value of Randle long term and become a better trade asset.
I think all of that is more valuable than what Mike brings on the court and what he brings off the court. Ant will be fine, we have already traded other mentors in Rubio and Pat Bev and lost other mentors in Kyle Anderson. Ant will be just fine. I really appreciate what Mike brought to this team but I think he has legit value to playoff teams that need a trusted backup PG (the wolves traded expirings and a 2nd for Monte Moris) and I think it would be dumb not to try and realize that value Mike currently has

You make a compelling point. If we end up being able to bring back NAW by shedding Mikes salary, then yes I'd move on. We likely can get a vet min PG also in the offseason as a backup. There are always a bunch out there. I'm not quite sure Mikes value is as strong as you may think though, considering his overall struggles to start the season. It would have to be a need fit for a team.

The Pistons could absorb Mike's contract completely and maybe change the protections on the pick in return. He would seemingly be a valuable piece for them this season.

OKC could use insurance for the oft-injured Alex Caruso. Also given how young that team still is and the fact Conley just got to the WCF last season, it seems like his experience would be valuable.
Houston may also want a vet backup for VanVleet. Their other pure PG is rookie Reed Sheppard, who started ahead of Rob Dillingham at PG for Kentucky last season and drafted third overall, is struggling and they are having to use Aaron Holiday. Mmmm, isn't that ironic that Dillingham is surging as golden boy Sheppard is struggling!?
So I think Kek might be onto something. I haven't looked up and down every playoff roster but there are two right there. Houston more than OKC could use an old head like Conley. Between him and VanVleet they would always have a ton of poise and experience for floor generals.

Reed didn't start at Kentucky, both Rob and Reed came off the bench.
