Nate Duncan said the same thing and they're ignoring one key aspect:rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 6:14 pm On the Game Theory podcast with Sam Vecenie. They love Ayo, and think he was a great pick up for us. They do question how we got here though, saying if we were going to get off of Mike, Rob and Lenny, we should have just kept NAW. But they said whats done is done ignoring that, and Ayo is going to be great for us. They questioned a bit if we wanted a more traditional point guard like Tre Jones or Alvarado, but came to the conclusion that this was a big get for us.
It's too bad NAW left but I think the Wolves process made plenty of sense at the time. Nobody saw Naw making the jump he did this season and the Wolves had a trio of young players primed to take jump in TSJ Clark and Dillingham. If they knew dillingham wasn't gonna make a jump they could have looked to move him to afford to sign NAW or something. I do think a little of what I have seen Ayo might offer a little more aggression to the roster than NAW did and I am a big fan of NAW. I'm actually going to a Hawks game later this month. In addition it's looking like keeping Randle was a smart move too and that was the discussion here about what guys to keep etc.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 6:18 pmNate Duncan said the same thing and they're ignoring one key aspect:rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 6:14 pm On the Game Theory podcast with Sam Vecenie. Getting rid of Conley clearly wasn't part of the plan as evidenced by the notion that he's coming back after all this.
The team also had a clear plan to integrate TJ and he's been hurt but with Mike's money off the books they can now afford that salary.WildWolf2813 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 6:18 pmNate Duncan said the same thing and they're ignoring one key aspect:rapsuperstar31 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 6:14 pm On the Game Theory podcast with Sam Vecenie. I dropped that theory a few years ago Tim, although I believe it was valid from ~ 2006-2020. But glad you remembered it because I certainly ranted about it for many years!60WinTim wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 5:32 pmAyo was the Bulls guard I was hoping we would get -- definitely closest to a 2-way player than any of the other Bulls guards. And Q's theory of "players forget how to shoot when they put on a Wolves uniform" will be tested. The only reason the Wolves had a shot is because he will be an unrestricted FA entering the offseason. TC is banking on Ayo have good success here for the remainder of the year, and convince him to re-sign before free agency even begins since he is extension eligible. That extension will cost somewhere around the MLE level.
My hope is Ayo works his way into being the first guard off the bench for Donte. I don't believe the transaction is official -- players need to pass their physicals. So, I don't expect to see him in uniform tomorrow. But then we have 3 games in 4 nights leading into the all-star break.
Anxious to see it all play out!
Well, that's encouraging.
I believe Connelly's brother works in the Bull front office...Q-is-here wrote: ↑Thu Feb 05, 2026 7:58 pmWell, that's encouraging.
I'm just struggling with the notion that we got a $7.5M player that is apparently an elite shooter, good passer, secure ball handler, finishes better than DDV, and is an elite defender entering his prime?? Why on God's green earth would any franchise looking to improve ever want to trade him for unproven and speculative prospects plus a bunch of second round picks? How the hell did Tim Connnelly get away with this heist???
I'm all for fleecing one of the many mediocre franchises in the Eastern Conference, but it almost seems too good to be true!
