I don't mind I was enjoying the back and forth. :)

I can't remember who it was but someone was making the point on ESPN radio the other day that the top teams in players drafted on their roster make the playoffs and the teams with low numbers were all bad teams. The Vikings were in the top 5 in that category and made the playoffs. Drafting well and keeping guys around does matter so taking about every pick has some merit.

I can see why. I didn't like the draft at first, but after looking at it I foubnd only 2 picks I didn't like. After FA we really didn't need to take Beavers and there was a nice DT on the board that could have been good depth.

I just looked it up but I can't find why he went as low as he did. I would have assumed based on how he was evaluated by the draft peeps there would be some answer by now but nothing.

The Jaron Kearse pick is starting to really grow on me.

The Kearse pick was actually my favorite of the draft, which was a very good one. He just seem to have all the tools, is extremely lengthy for a DB, and used to play receiver so he has good hands. Great moldable talent for Zimmer that I would have had no problem seeing drafted in the 4th or 5th. The Beavers pick was me least favorite. He didn't play well in college, and has a ways to go to develop into a legitimate threat to Kalil. He is very athletic for a big guy though, so if he learns technique he could be a good player. Every other pick I thought was timely, and can see all of them making the roster. It just would have been a perfect draft to me if we picked Billings in the 4th instead of Beavers. (I don't like Shariff Floyd)

I agree with what you said with the Beavers pick. I saw somewhere they are moving him to guard and Clemmings to LT so that's interesting. maybe Sparano had some decent say in the Beavers pick. Let's be honest with the luck/track record of the Vikings recently I am not sure you can have enough talent/competition on the oline.

I'm with you on not being sold on Floyd although I like him. We could have easily selected a DT and I sort of expected them to do just that and would have been a fan of such a move. However they do have a pretty solid group there with Joseph, Floyd, Tom Johnson, Stephen and they brought back Kendrick Ellis who seems to be a pretty good guy if he is your worst DT and he isn't even a lock to make the team.

Andy Janovich was very popular here at Nebraska but it's great that Denver Bronco's fans are catching Jano Fever down there after Elway's tweet about drafting him. Janovich is one of those local walk on to NFL guys that I really enjoy about Nebraska Football's tradition.

I think the reasons are two fold. It is going to run-heavy offense for the next 1.5 years (at least), and there are probably a ton of Nebraska fans due to the proximity.

I'm pretty sold on the Vikes at DT. Four of Floyd/Joseph/Johnson/Stephens/Ellis will make the team, and that will probably be a top-8 group. If you are top-8 in everything, you're pretty good.

Very good points. I have family in that area that are Nebraska fans and Broncos fans. They used to live in Wyoming. Part of why it's amusing that people from that area are excited about a Cornhusker is it wasn't that long ago the Buffs and Cornhuskers were pretty big rivals. Of course there are probably plenty of Broncos fans that are too young to know about such things. Hmm...I'm feeling old. lol

I do as well. Whenever I think of the CO/NE border, I think of that episode of "South Park" when they go to visit Cartman's relatives in NE, and it goes from color to Black&White as soon as they cross the border. It doesn't seem that long ago that that episode was on, but it's probably 17 years.
