It SEEMS like there is some nice player for interior positions in this draft but not so much with tackles. I remember though the Vikings picked a couple guys that were supposed to be steals at their spots that were guards and...they are out of the league and they basically didn't do anything.

I totally agree that the NFL draft is interesting because you can legitimately find really good players even when you get to the guys that aren't drafted. I think the NBA draft will start being even more interesting in the 2nd round with the D league being more of a minor league system and the level of talent around the world Continuing to become better. I'm generally a sucker for watching the draft but now the NFL draft is drug out over a few days (which is smart) I tend to just watch the clips of the guys that the Vikings picked and anyone else I have interest in like guys that played at Nebraska.

I think we have enough projects on the OL. We have Sirles, Eaton, Kerin, Clemmings, Hill, and Beavers. I am guessing we only keep 8 people on OL. We have 10 already. 4 starting spots are claimed for starters. 4 spots are open. I really want to draft a C or RG that can start day one or do nothing. This draft doesn't seem to have OT that looks like any better than what we have for projects. I hope Hill can be LT/LG backup and Sirles backup at RT/RG. Center backup Eaton. So draft a starter or bust.

I pretty much agree with you. It's a pretty young group already. If they really like 2 interior guys I wouldn't hate drafting them but I also think interior guys can actually be found wherever. Tackles...you got to be more lucky.

My thoughts on top 5 needs are:

1. DL - I want 2 tackles if we can
2. RB - I would love to draft our next 5 years back
3. TE - To many good ones not to take one
4. DB - It is a good draft for DB's. We turning over guys and need depth lost to replacing starters.
5. LB - I would like to see another fast 3 down LB. A S/LB hybrid would be perfect.

I didn't list OT because this draft lacks them. I would be prepared to use a 1st or 2nd rounder next year.

CB is a concern to me. The Vikings have nobody proven beyond their top 4 guys. Maybe Jabari Price is a guy they have a lot of faith in he has been around for a couple years now but hasn't done much because of injury and I think a suspension if I remember right. He profiles (based on what he did in college) as a guy that probably is better inside than outside.

I know at one point it was supposed to be a pretty deep CB draft and I have heard its deep in safeties. Nate Gerry out of Nebraska has always been a guy I thought could be good at the next level. There are some legit questions about him but it looks like he may not even be drafted which surprised me a bit although I know I'm being a bit of a homer about him.

I want to see one OL drafted in the 2nd and a RB in the 3rd. Hopefully that is pat Elflein in the 2nd and Joe mixon RB in the 3rd.

It seems like Mixon is a guy people want or are intrigued by. If they don't get Mixon is there another RB you like? I haven't dug into it enough yet.

I just think there's an extremely thin chance we take Mixon if he's available 2/3/4th round. That would just go against everything they've done to bring in high character players.

Mixon last until our 2nd round pick.

Monster lots of quality options. After Mixon to me they all kind of lump together and nobody stands out. I think we will see some productive guys go undrafted.

2nd or 3rd Round guys.
ALVIN KAMARA - 3 down back that can do it all
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/alvin-kamara?id=2558019

D'ONTA FOREMAN - Big RB with moves and speed. Ran for 2000+ yards in 2016. Block and catching?
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/donta-foreman?id=2557994

4th or 5th round guys
JEREMY MCNICHOLS - Shifty speed back that might not break a ton of tackles, but can run and catch.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/jeremy-mcnichols?id=2557977

MARLON MACK - Big play back. 6 TD of more than 40 yards last year. Burner. Fumbles.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/marlon-mack?id=2558123

6th or 7th round guys. :
JAMES CONNER - Big RB and do it all type back that could play a little FB. Murray clone. Leader
http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/james-conner?id=2557978

DE'ANGELO HENDERSON - Short stout back with speed. Can catch and run with power. I am a fan of the short strong RB because they make hard targets and are hard to find behind lineman. Thinking Emmet Smith and Barry Sanders.

Bottom line is there are upgrades for us available in this draft at almost any round.

I say put him in the game and see if he can play.
