Teague??? hope that draft pick is a good one!
In all fairness, the NBA season is about more than one game.
And 1st round draft picks are treasured right now.
I like watching and rooting for Rubio more than Teague, but I don't really think the Wolves screwed that one up a bunch.
Rubio just can never quite get over the hump when it comes to 3-point shooting. He has always been borderline competent (career 32%). His FT shooting and long 2's have become progressively more accurate over the years, but it hasn't spilled into the 3-point shot yet. And that's the crux of the issue with him.
As for Teague, I still wonder if we could have used that extra salary we spent on him (vs. Rubio) to sign a better 3rd wing than Crawford. Rubio-Jones may have been good enough at PG to get to where we are now. Heck, Rubio starts with a team that is barely behind us in the standings!

Rubio is having another year where he is hitting his 2 point shots so in some ways he hasn't reverted to being a poor shooter. He is well over 50% at the rim which is significant. Still Teague is a better offensive player and looking at the RPM stats...it's a tradeoff what you want more of offense or defense and ultimately what style of play you want from the player. I'd rather have the 1st round pick than the guy we could have gotten for 4-5 million this year because this upcoming offseason you can probably get that guy for that much or even less. Plus there is a chance that Bazz would have gotten a chunk of that money and...that would have been a disaster.

Fair point but I would also like to point out that if we would have kept Rubio last summer we would have been able to trade Wiggins and Rubio for Irving...

Well that's not a certainty. It'a a possibility but as its been mentioned in a few posts recently a few of us think that its unlikely. Based on Jon K's reporting Rubio wasn't going to be brought back so it wasn't going to happen.

He has had a couple nice games. It seems like that happened with Brewer though he shoots well for a few games with a new team then comes back down to earth. He is still a likely upgrade over who they were playing before. He had a nice game tonight looking at the box score I am trying to figure out how that game was fairly close.
This may not be the right thread but I was just looking at the standings and while I fear we may not make the playoffs it is amazing to me that the wolves and the three teams below us are only one loss out of home court and 3 out of 3rd place. Think about all of the bad losses over the season. Turn some of those L to W and it would still be us in 3rd place...

And all of those teams are thinking the same thing! :) The WC ended up being about what we thought it would be to some extent. There are a number of good teams fighting for the playoffs and some bad teams. The Lakers are really the only team in the middle. At 30-36 that actually seems kinda impressive. I know they aren't in tank mode but still most of the year they have seemed like a team that just doesn't suck. I'm not sure they are going to be just letting Julius Randle walk for nothing anymore. He has had a breakout season.

FiveThirtyEight is projecting the wolves to win 47 games and be the 4 seed (tied with the Jazz and Thunder but due to tie breakers we would be the 4 seed playing the Jazz). But that is only 2 games up on their projected 9th place team (spurs). FiveThirtyEight give the wolves a 92% chance at making the playoffs
