Man what a haul for the Sixers for Jason's guy Kendall Marshall. :) It sounds like he will be available after the Jazz waive him. I'd be interested.

He played well for LAL a couple of years ago, but really went downhill in PHI, but who hasn't? The trade UTH made with PHI is similar to something I would have liked for Payne, except maybe then keeping Marshall.
UTH made this deal because they signed Marcus Paige, and $3.1m with a $500K buyout next year is tough to swallow for an actual small market like Utah.
True story: For a second there, I thought "Why didn't MIN get in on this and send Payne to PHI for Pleiss"? Then I looked him up on 82 games. Wow. Could Pleiss play for Macalester?

This deal was about money for Utah. Now to get your deal to get Mashall for Payne all you have to do is sign Marshall and send Payne packing. I would love to get Marshall here but I wonder if some other teams will have some interest. Dallas seems like a good spot they could use a young PG.
Look up some highlights of Marshall sometime folks he has some pretty sweet passes.

Ty Lawson to the Kings.
In some ways it's a great move for the Kings and Lawson (the opportunity is there) but is that actually a good situation otherwise for either party? Collision has his own off court problems. The Kings have plenty of dysfunction of their own on so many levels. The redeeming factor is Joerger is the coach and he seems pretty legit but sorta engineered his way out of Memphis though so it's not all perfect there either. I hope Lawson puts his life and career on track but based on the info I have I don't feel very optimistic about it which is kids sad.

I like the signing for the Kings. We saw Rondo rebound there and I hope Ty does the same thing. He would have been someone I would have considered for a 3/4th PG on this team if he checked out well. Meaning he rocked his interviews, back ground checks, and was in great shape.

OKC continues to use to build a pretty talented young roster. This time they gave up a couple 2nd rounders for Joffrey Lauvergne from the Nuggets. I've always been a bit impressed with the guy he always seems to show he can play.

It's not exactly free agency, but Kris Middleton tore a hamstring and is out for a number of months. Big bummer for the Bucks. So they traded Tyler Ennis to the Rockets for Michael Beasley to fill the void!
At some point, I am going to need to review all the Western Conference team rosters to figure out how good some of the competition is going to be...

It really sucks for the Bucks and Middleton. I pull for the Bucks and Middleton is such a good all around player that's gonna really hurt them. So they don't have Mayo anymore then trade for Beasley. Kinda funny. Adding Beasley it's easier to make jokes about that helping them tank but there is a bit of a chance he helps them more than hurts them. Kidd has been able to work a little magic in that way. Unfortunately losing Middlton and replacing some of his minutes with Beasley is going to be a pretty massive loss defensively.
Also I thought it was a ice enough move for Houston getting a young PG (just turned 22) who isn't amazing but I think has showed some signs of being able to play in this league. Even if he is just a solid/backup that's a good move.

I think this pretty much wraps up the spending spree of 2016 FA. wow
"J.R. Smith and the Cavs have come to terms on a four-year $57 million deal, league sources say"

Back the Buick up. David Lee signed with the Spurs? Saw it in a game recap. I missed that one. Nice pickup for them.
