Worst composite season ever for Minnesota sports?

As the Vikings put the cherry atop a turd sundae yesterday, it got me thinking if we have ever had a moment where 3 of the 4 major pro sports teams in town have so greatly underachieved. I'm leaving out the Wild because we have so little discussion about them here, although the way things are going, they may have to become my new favorite team. I looked at the consensus Vegas predicted wins compared to where the teams ended up (or are projected to end up) to determine which one of the three teams is the biggest loser this season. Here they are, from [s]bes[/s]...um, least bad to worst:

Vikings: We don't know if the Vikings will beat or lose to the Bears next weekend, but let's assume a win...the Bears are that bad. If they do indeed win, our Vikings will be our 2016-7 champion with 84% of their forecast. I'm actually happy to see the Vikings in this position, because they are the only team of the three that has a legitimate excuse for their futility with all the injuries.

Twins: In any other town, winning only 59 games when Vegas is predicting 77.5 would easily earn the futility award, but not here...in the Land of Champions 59 wins compared to expectations keeps you out of the cellar with 76% of the forecast. Congratulations to Paul Molitor and Co. on their success. And that leads us to this year's projected champion:

Your fighting Timberwolves: Tom Thibodeau has already guided his team to 9 wins, or more than 1 win per $ million he is being paid. Unfortunately, that projects to only 25 wins on the season, or a pathetic 60% of the Vegas forecast of 41.5. So, the Timberwolves are projected to be this year's Minnesota Futility Champions.

A very Merry Christmas to all of you from the Minnesota teams that never fail to bring us so much joy...we are truly blessed to live here.
