I've said elsewhere that Luis Arraez will win multiple batting titles before he retires. If the season ended today, and IF he had enough plate appearance to qualify, his .316 average would have him only one point behind Houston's Gurriel. I would bet even money that he finishes the season with the highest batting average. But will he get to 502 plate appearances? He currently has 357, so he needs 145 more...and there are 36 games left in the season. So that means he would qualify if he played every remaining game and averaged 4 plate appearances. More likely, he will average 5 plate appearances in games he plays, so he only has to play 29 of the remaining 36 games to qualify.

My prediction: Arraez will finish the season with more than the required 502 appearances, and he will be the 2021 AL batting champ!

He has lost some ground the last couple games and only had 4 plate appearances last night. At this point .316 would be on the low end of American League batting title averages.

That's ok...he's a hitting machine and will snap out of this mini-slump. Now 10 points behind the 2 Astros in the lead, but plenty of time to make it up. He needs 141 more PAs in 35 games. I hope Rocco doesn't rest him against the lefty tonight, because Luis has a hit and a walk in his two appearances against him.

Luis Arraez is sitting at .301 at the time of this comment. The AL leaders have increased the gap. Things can obviously change, but it doesn't look like it'll happen this year.
