This is just my way of tracking the trade. We all already know how it's turning out and it's probably only going to get worse as they cash in our draft picks. But since we are now at the exact halfway point this year, below is recap how the players stack up as far as VORP. Note: The Jazz traded Patrick Beverley to the LA Lakers for Talen Horton Tucker and Stanley Johnson (who was later waived). I'm counting Horton Tucker as part of their haul from the trade.

Again - I'm a VORP guy. Others can certainly evaluate the trade with their own methods. Also, if we win a championship with Rudy - none of this matters.

Interesting observations:
1.) Kessler has same VORP as Rudy. I don't think that will hold up. But props to that draft pick.
2.) I'm starting to feel like it's a countdown to Bolmaro playing in the Euro league. He's just not getting any run.
3.) Beasley looks like Beasley. Somewhat effective/positive. Not a needle mover. But a decent bench guy.
4.) Vanderbilt (still only 23) looks like he'll put up career highs this year and seems to get a little better each season.

The killer here longer-term is Kessler. He looks like he could truly become Rudy 2.0 at a waaaaay cheaper price for the next few years. Not sure any of us forecasted this (including Connelly of course), but that may put the nail in the coffin of who won the trade.

Granted, Kessler is only playing 18 MPG and I highly doubt he'll command the same respect from the officials that Gobert will in a playoff series THIS season, so short term we're better off with Gobert. But in Year 2, 3, and beyond? Kessler may be the better asset.

Ouch.

Definitely looks like Kessler shoulda been the trial run to see if they needed to upgrade to Gobert.

From the little I saw of Kessler... I thought he was gonna be a bust.

Oops.

I was bored with the Kessler pick...thought he would just be another lumbering white center. But he has been very good so far this season...even better stats than Rudy. But an old adage is that the team that ends up with the best player wins the trade, and in 20 years, I don't think people will be talking about Walker Kessler the way they do about Rudy. But maybe Walker will prove me wrong again.

I thought Kessler could potentially become poor mans Rudy but highly unlikely to get to Rudys level. He reminded me of Gobert who I compared him to after watching his college tape. Long frame/arms and quick blocks.

We are now back to .500 in games played without KAT. While it's reasonable to have hoped for better, at least it's not a total loss. And considering the team's chemistry is starting to click, we might be in pretty good shape when KAT does return.

I think before KAT went down, he was furthest along in developing chemistry with Gobert on the offensive end. It seems like each player has to find his own chemistry with Gobert. Dlo, SloMo and Jaden have all been moving along the curve. Gobert looks to be finding his own groove with the team on both ends of the court. I still believe this trade is going to work out very well for the Wolves.

Tim with the timely dose of optimism. I think there is a lot to like about the last few games. Hope they keep it up and use that extra time to their benefit before tomorrow night.

Tonight's game against the Pistons tells us that nothing has really changed with this team. We're just not a good team this season. Just need to get through this season and next and hope for luck in the 2024 lottery. :)

We're top 10 in halfcourt offense and halfcourt defense thanks to Rudy. Nowell has shit the bed, we have had bad injury luck, and we are thin at PG (that's TC's fault).
