Back in 2003 during free agency, I just knew we would wind up signing 1 of 3 players: Jalen Rose, Eddie Jones or Latrell Sprewell. I have that same kind of feeling about a forthcoming DLo trade: Kyle Lowry, Mike Conley or Fred VanVleet. We'll see how that prediction pans out in the next few weeks.

Okay, enough pissing away games. Time to start a winning streak!

The more I watch Fred VanVleet this season, and projecting what his next contract will be, I don't think he's the answer. Are you comfortable with this franchise paying VanVleet approximately $140-million or more over the next four years, while he's already showing a noticeable decline? I don't think I am.

Anyways, I do think tonight's game is very winnable. Very important stretch of games here and a top-six seed is still somehow attainable. Minnesota might get Karl-Anthony Towns and Jordan McLaughlin back by the end of the month. It would be nice to incorporate them while the team is on a winning streak or having some success.

NBA Record on teams he's on 372-201
College Record 121-24

I'm sorry but I trust a guy to figure it out whose team wins roughly 68% of the games that he's on.

Probably just being a rube but I been enthralled with his career. Guy is a flat out winner every where he goes.

Pause. Long ago, I suggested Fred VanVleet would be a draft darling coming out of Wichita State. I've always been a fan from afar and would agree that he's a winner. He's objectively a good starting point guard. How good is subjective, but he's undeniably a positive impact player.

However, we need to be serious when evaluating what a player's value is and how much it's worth. Paying this version of VanVleet approximately $35-million annually over the next four years isn't optimal, and that's what he's likely going to command this off-season.

VanVleet has also never been the first or second banana on any of those successful teams he's been on at the NBA level so I would caution anyone thinking that's the case. That wouldn't be the case in Minnesota either. He's in that good-not-great tier of players. Again, that's a hefty amount of cap space to allot to a player you're asking to be the third or fourth best player.

Also, is VanVleet worth the $10-15 million more annually than D'Angelo Russell on their next contracts? That's essentially the equivalent of Kyle Anderson and Taurean Prince combined. I just don't think so. We can agree to disagree.

Towns, JMac, Gobert and Rivers all out tonight, and Toronto is rested and only missing something called Dalano Banton. The Wolves surprised me last night. Can they do it again with no rest?

C'mon Ant, bad pass for a turnover, early pull up 3 he bricked, and then a missed bunny. Gotta do better.

They just need to sit Ant down. He's forcing things and getting frustrated early. Let him collect himself and regroup.

And DLO promptly comes in for an ineffective Ant.

Is it too soon to give Kyle Anderson an extension? Yes, it is, but he needs to be in Minnesota longer than just next season.
