Can't remember where I heard but, if Utah buys out Beverley would you resign and what would it cost?

Plus why hasn't the trade hit transaction wire? Could it be they are trying to bring in other teams to take Beverley before buying him out?

For the Wolves to resign Beverly he would need to be traded to another additional team. There is a rule against players being traded somewhere getting waived and signing to the team that just traded him. If he was traded from Utah to a following team then waived the Wolves could resign him.

I think you are right that other teams are likely to end up being a part of this deal. Utah doesn't want all those guards and likely wants a big that can come in and help them right away. It would not shock me if this became like a 5 team deal. Of course the other thing is there is this Durant guy that wants to get traded so that may hold things up...

Patrick Beverley can't sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves until the end of the salary cap year, or next June.

It seems unlikely to happen but as I said above there is a scenario where the Wolves could resign Beverly before the end of the now current league year. See below.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q64

"6. Interestingly, a player can be traded to a third team, waived by the third team, and be eligible to re-sign with his original team before the waiting period expires. While this has not happened in practice, the league clarified its interpretation of this rule in 2017, in regard to a possible instance with Andrew Bogut."

he July Moratorium lasts from 12:01 AM Eastern Time on July 1 to 12:00 PM Eastern time on July 6 each season -- even if these dates fall on weekends or holidays. The salary cap and tax level take effect on July 1, coinciding with the start of the Moratorium. Exceptions (see question number 25) arise on July 1 as well. This could explain why trade hasn't been announced, and thx for link Monster
