Trae Young?

Rumors are that Trae Young will ask out via trade very soon and will be the next big star on the markert.

Just want to gauge interest in general.

Thoughts on a Young for Kat straight up swap. Thoughts on a Young and Collins for Dlo and Kat swap.

In terms of roster fit I think it makes a little more sense. I think both players are in similar tier of player. Just curious.

I had heard he was having a bad shooting year so far, but I didn't realize his career 3pt% is lower than Dlo at 35% Young vs 35.6% for Dlo. He can certainly score in bunches and has high assists numbers which is good. He is better fit offensively, but I believe he is a terrible defender.

Personally, I'm not interested in either trade. That's not because the value is way off or because the outgoing Minnesota players are unmovable for me, but I think the team is just better with Karl-Anthony Towns and D'Angelo Russell than they would be with Trae Young and John Collins.

If the Timberwolves [when healthy] fail to meet expectations this year and a shakeup is inevitably required, then I think I'd be more interested in exploring the trade market with either Rudy Gobert or Towns for an upgrade or better fit at the wing/four plus quality depth and draft capital. I'd also still look to extend/re-sign Russell and keep the current backcourt in place. That's the route I would go.

Pascal Siakam would be my top trade target in a pivot scenario.

Not exactly the 2 way complimentary guard many have been advocating for putting next to Edwards. Lol

In all seriousness I like Trae young quite a bit but I see problems adding him to this group and the cost to acquire is going to be enormous. Basically it's either trading Towns or Edwards to get him and obviously moving Towns is the more likely play. I think I'd prefer to see what this group does instead of trading for a guy that would have questions about the fit here and who knows if he would even want to come here. Quite frankly while Russell is clearly a lesser offensive player he likely fits better next to Edwards at this point than Trae Young and I'm not really advocating for Russell as the long term PG for the Wolves just stating where things are currently at.

I'm with Cam Monster on this question. I talk a lot about fit. I don't think a Trae Young/John Collins duo would be an upgrade or better fit than the DLO/KAT pairing. KAT is a FAR better talent/player than John Collins and the DLO/KAT pairing was pretty darn successful last season. I have the same take as Cam on what the Wolves should do next summer if this thing doesn't gel yet this season - i.e, trading Rudy or KAT for an upgrade at the wing/PF position. As I've mentioned, I'd have a strong preference for trading Gobert.

I'm not sure what's wrong with Trae Young this season. And I suspect there are issues - attitude, or something else - with John Collins that we don't know about. As some will recall, I loved him coming out of college and wanted to the Wolves to draft him when they drafted Justin Patton. He started his NBA career as the player I thought he'd be, but he's been backsliding lately. More interestingly, he's been on Atlanta's trade block for several years in spite of his early statistical success. It's also interesting that the Hawks haven't found any viable suitors after several years of shopping him. Just a hunch, but I have Collins red-flagged in my list players on the market.

No thank you. I cant think of a worse match for Ant than Trey Young.
