Just saw this stat:

- Nickola Pekovic is shooting 51% within 5 feet of the basket this season.
- Kyle Korver is shooting 52% on three pointers this season.

I just read that article too. Pretty crazy.

What Kyle Korver is doing this season stretches the bounds of human capability. Seriously, no one has come close to doing it at this level of volume with that kind of accuracy. I mean, he's got bodies flying left and right at him; he's not just camped out in the corner taking a couple of wide open 3's per game. Incredible.

As for Pekovic, he's always had a little difficulty finishing around the rim. However, since these are practically the ONLY shots he takes, even hitting them at a sub-60% level is pretty efficient. Still, he got off to a slow start, then got hurt, and is now just starting to hit his stride. We'll see if he can get that number up.

I wonder what Pek's efficiency is for his career on shots within five feet of the basket under 1:00 left to play... :-(

Rubio % within 5 feet: 34.6

Korver % on 3's : 52

During the GSW game, I thought I heard he was 2 - 14 in similar circumstances.

Heh, not real good, but ideally he's camped out under the basket getting the O-board off a missed shot from one of our guards or wings. Hopefully someday he isn't considered our most reliable crunch time option....

This comparison does bring into sharp focus though how disadvantaged we are on most nights. We have Pek, Shabazz, and Wiggins laboring in the post trying to get 2-point buckets or free throws while Steph Curry, Wes Matthews, Kyle Korver, Redick, Lillard, James Harden, etc., etc. get 3-points with a flick of the wrist. Getting Martin back helps, but he's really the only guy that can do this. You need more than one volume 3-point threat in today's NBA game. Hopefully some of our young guards and wings continue to develop this part of their game. Otherwise we're playing with one hand tied behind our back on most nights.

Nice one Abe. But Pek will be a reliable, healthy center for us when we make the playoffs,.right? Right??
