I remember this guy getting some time on this board several years ago when he came out. He just recorded a triple double with 14 pts, 13 rb and 12 blocks. He has been absolutely awesome in January. With all the young, and inexperienced guys we have, it is always reassuring to see a guy like this develop after a few years.

Wasn't there even some talk about us signing him before Miami did?

Wolfson tweets that the Wolves had him in for a workout a couple years ago but Kahn, Cock, and RJ Adelman passed on him.

Apparently he had a horrific attitude at first. Sometimes a guy needs to get knocked off his high horse and mature a bit. That certainly seems to be what happened with him.

And he had all of that in about 25 minutes. Granted, Taj Gibson was asking for it as he tried to bully Whiteside in the post all game. But very impressive, great athlete too, seemed to run the floor well.

I brought him up a week or so ago. Not sure what his contract looks like, but he would be a guy I could see offering full MLE for.

I ran into Whiteside, Cousins, and Tyreke Evans one year in Vegas at night after a summer league game. They were standing outside a club since they were all under 21. They were nice enough to talk briefly about SL with me.

If he keeps this up, it will require a hell of a lot more than the MLE. A classic late-blooming big man. You sometimes wonder if some of these guys need to hit bottom before they can reach their potential. In other words, if his first team (Sacramento I believe?) would have just held onto him as a long-term project, would his poor habits and attitude been enabled - and therefore he would never have improved due to the guaranteed money - or would he have matured anyway and been a hell of a 1-2 combination with Cousins? We'll never know....

I am certain the bottoming out is a big part of it. He has been out of the league 2 years. I am sure that was a huge eye opener for him. Glad to see him doing well and i agree if he keeps it up the MLE won't be enough. That will be where it really gets interesting. How will he feel once he is comfortable?
