Well, this doesn't seem very promising...

The Athletic finished up its heavy-analytical take on the NBA's best players, ranking the top 125.
How'd the Wolves do?
Well, they have 1 more top 125 players than the New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets! And they have the same number as Cleveland and Chicago.
[Note: Every other team in the league had at least 3 players in the top 125.

That doesn't surprise me, honestly. The Wolves have KAT and D-Lo and then a bunch of young, unproven pieces. I wonder where they ranked Malik Beasley.
Edit: Just read the piece and there are plenty of names that I would take Beasley over and some I would consider taking Okogie over.

Shouldn't be a surprise when you look at our Win/Loss record. We need existing guys to improve or find new ones. Same story as nearly every year we've been in existence.

Not really sure I'd take Okogie over anybody on that list.
Beasley... that might be a different story.

According to Hollinger... and his advanced stats... Kris Dunn is worth about 2x as much as Malik Beasley in free agency.
Heck, the player formerly known as 1st round bust, Michael Carter Williams, is deemed more valuable.
[Note: And that doesn't include any value loss from the legal issues...]

Beaseleys value I think is based more on what he hasn't done then what he has. He had a little time here as a starter to play starter minutes but it was very short. We simply are hoping he outperforms expectations, type of thing that sells draft picks as well. Hope.

Dunn has become a younger version of Patrick Beverley defensively, but doesn't have the 3-point shot. He has become an absolute elite defender at the point of attack. It's something that typically doesn't cost as much compared to a more offensively oriented guard like Beasley, even though you could argue Dunn has a bigger impact on games. I guess that's what Hollinger is trying to say.

And for my money, I'd rather have Shaq Harrison over Kris Dunn, which should tell you how much of a steal I think he's going to be for some team.

Hollinger also has Harrison above Beasley.
