I watched this on Netflix last night. Brought back all sorts of memories, and also reviewed many things I had forgotten.

First and foremost, Like Marbury's brother stated, I also believe we would have had great chance at championship if Marbury would have stayed. He and KG were electric, and were on a trajectory of stardom together. Ultimately, not getting "KG MONEY", as it was referred to around the league, put Marbury on a very strange path.

As you watch the documentary, you can see Marbury begin to lose a grip on reality a bit with every passing year. His time in NY was marred with absolutely crazy situations and circumstances. I am honestly surprised he made it out of that time of his life intact. There were some videos posted that show that he is clearly off his rocker, and in some sort of mental breakup.

But then came his life altering trip to the China league. Wow, what a personal transformation! I never really followed anything about him once he left the states, so this part of the movie was really fun to see. He was almost instantly released of all his demons, and all the sudden, he was transformed into what I would call a completely new person. A guy free from 20 years of pressure and expectations. A guy free to enjoy basketball and life again. By the end of the documentary, I was simply amazed and found myself smiling as I watched the guy he had become.

So cool. Well worth the watch for those of us that watched the few years of "what could have been".

I watched it sometime last year. I agree that it's a terrific documentary. There's the personal aspect of Marbury's struggles and his personal transformation. I had a generally negative view of Marbury when I started watching, but by the end I had a real affection for him. For Wolves fans, there's the wistful nostalgic and painful aspect with the hope he brought and the despair and collapse he left behind with his unexpected demand to leave. When I had lunch with Flip Saunders about a year before he passed, he talked about Marbury. He reminded me that the Wolves were in first place in the West at the time Marbury was traded. Flip said that he lobbied to keep Marbury in spite of his trade demand on the theory that winning would cure his jealousy of KG's contract. But McHale and ultimately Glen Taylor didn't want to take the risk of losing him for nothing.

There is no doubt in my mind that the Wolves would have been a perennial championship contender for a long time and probably would have won at least one championship had Steph stayed. I remember when the Marbury-Allen swap was announced on draft day. On hearing the news, Marbury's cried with joy and talked about joining his close friend KG. And I still vividly remember the Wolves first game against MJ's Bulls in Target Center with Marbury. Steph carried the Wolves to victory in front of a raucous packed house that evening. After the win, Marbury walked out to center court, got on his knees and kissed the Wolves logo. That was probably the most euphoric and hope-filled moment I've experienced as a Wolves fan. At that moment, I couldn't have possibly fathomed Marbury asking to be traded just a year later. It was perhaps the strangest, most unexpected turnabout I've ever seen in pro sports. But such is the life of a Wolves fan.
