Sad indeed. Seemed like a good guy, but not quite right mentally may be (??). Not sure if he was mixed up in something nefarious that went sideways or what, but always sad to hear news like this.

"Per local authorities, a man named Lawrence Dority has been arrested for the shooting on a first-degree murder warrant. Dority stayed on the scene and spoke with police before he was transported to jail."

This is indeed very sad news. I admired Payne a lot going back to his college days, when he befriended an 8-year-old cancer patient and spent a considerable amount of time with him. I know athletes do stuff like this a lot, but this always seemed like an extraordinarily sincere example. I always cheered for him, but you can't dispute the fact he was a flop in the NBA. I wish his family peace.
