If the deal gets done, I sure hope the sale agreement includes a HUGE financial penalty on Strauss if he moves the team out of Minnesota. If it's just largely a handshake deal based on Glen's trust in Strauss, then we're in trouble.

I haven't been as down on Glen as many others. But his one big failing as owner has been his poor judgment about people and talent. That poor judgment was never more evident than in his decisions to hire David Kahn as PBO, to give both the PBO and head coaching positions to Thibs, and to extend Wiggins after "looking him in the eye." So if Glen says he looked Strauss in the eye and was convinced Strauss will keep the team in Minnesota, then Seattle might have an NBA franchise sooner than some think.

The good news is if this goes through at least this guy has experience in ownership. I'd wonder if he has a plan past a few years down the road. Many owners aren't young because you gotta have some money...Straus is 64. I have more faith in some of the people around Glen than I do about him. I think Ethan Casson legit knows what he is doing and as far as I know the Wolves have everyone around that can make the decisions. I don't know of any adverse circumstances other than Covid that would affect decision making.

First, the Wolves win the lottery and now Glen Taylor is in advanced stages of selling the team? Did Christmas come early?

That #1 probably helped the value go up a little. Again simply based on a business decision Glen selling right now Especially at his age makes a ton of sense. Meanwhile someone wanting to buy in...it might be a smart time to get in IF you really think this is a franchise on the rise. Simply in terms of business even if this team became a fun to watch playoff team for a solid multi year run that could reload like Memphis did...it would be pretty profitable. If somehow you ended up with a a championship or even real co tender then you would really rake it in at some point when COVID passes.

No Christmas didn't come early or in the case of Straus, Chanukah! You do realize that Straus is not from Minnesota and the odds of the Wolves franchise leaving Minnesota sometime in the future goes up if he acquires the team. I would like to see KG's group acquire the team.

As far as winning the lottery. It is usually a very positive development, but this is one of the few years where winning the lottery is kind of meh. There is no consensus top player and it will be much tougher to evaluate players in this COVID environment and evaluate one of the top prospects with limited tape on Wiseman. On the negative side, if the Wolves keep the pick they'll have to shell out more money for a guy they might have been able to draft a bit lower. Guys like Okongwu, Haliburton, Deni, Topin and Vassell may end up being better choices than the consensus top 3 of Edwards, Ball and Wiseman.

I can't disagree with KG4Ever here.

This is a crazy draft year. Unprecedented in the level of mehness couple with complete unknowns and uncertainties and lack of insight into the players.

Consider that Ball played 13 games overseas. Wiseman played 3 games. Yikes.

[Note: We're a provincial lot. I would feel better with a MN native at the helm.]

I agree also. Lots of smart fans know all this. Some casual fans are going to be abuzz with the news...there will be people dying to draft_____or whatever. I'm not suggesting it's massive like if we got it last year with Zion or some other awesome prospect but it's a little bit of something... Even if it's not real still #1 helps perception...and that can mean SOME more $.

I'd argue that Wiseman's 3 games of "unknown" could potentially be a good thing. He didn't take the rest of the year off due to injury. After the investigation started, he just took himself out of the controversy and went to focusing on the draft and getting himself NBA ready. Wiseman was the #1 prospect coming into the year, did nothing in the 1st 3 games to suggest he wasn't going to keep that title on a full season, and if he actually has hired a trainer to work on his skill set and get himself ready for the NBA game, he might actually be further ahead than any of us have seen.

In his 3 games, his per-40 statistics were 34.2 points, 18.2 rebounds, 5.2 blocks. Small sample size, and probably only Oregon was any good, but he put up the numbers, he has the skill set and the size to become elite at the next level, he has a skill set that this team doesn't have, but sorely has needed, and wouldn't be a bad consolation prize to a trade for an established star.

I'm curious what a Wiseman workout looks like, especially in comparison with where he was as a freshman 3 games into his college career. He actually might be the blue chip prospect that this draft lacks, simply because he doesn't have enough college game film. If he kept up those numbers through the course of a season, he would be the #1 pick with a bullet.
