Rubio Rumor thread

Post by Monster »

Maybe we could post in here about Rubio possibly being moved.

One thought about some of the rumors.

The idea that the Wolves are offering up Rubio if someone wil take Pek sounds like pretty much fantasy. Who would take on around 25 million in salary the next 2 years just to get Rubio? I mean sign Brandon Jennings for half that if you are that desperate and keep another chunk of money to get another player or have open for when teams want to do deals and give up some players and or picks. I guess I could MAYBE see Philly doing that deal for Rubio if they really wanted him but that's a ton of money for a player in Rubio that seriously can't have that kind of value as much as I like him.

They say everyone has a price...

I guess I am fine with "that's their price", knowing it is unlikely they will have any takers. And if someone did bite, well, they would now have the additional cap space to go out and replace Ricky, and then some.

I hope that is the case. I really want to see this team play with Ricky, Dunn and LaVine as the principle backcourt...

Good thread start-up, monster. I'm interested in the validity of any rumors about the Wolves shopping Ricky for two reasons.

1) We all know the numbers, and how everyone gets better when Ricky is on the court. We also have seen how the team falls apart when he is injured. If we move Ricky without a plan other than Tyus or Dunn, we're not going to be a playoff team this year.

2) Leydon and Thibs are still in the honeymoon phase as far as I'm concerned...I want to believe that they will be good executives for us. But if they really were actively shopping Ricky this week without looking to bring back another starting PG, I have real questions about their judgement.

Leydon and Thibs both seem like smart guys to me, and while I'm sure they see the same limitations in Ricky that we do, I can't believe they think either Dunn or Jones is ready to be a starting PG. I still haven't seen any rumors about moving Rubio that I would describe as credible, and I hope I don't unless they involve trading for another starting PG.

Oh nice, now this topic will hang around all season long. I'm sure Thibs wants to keep Ricky for at least a season or two instead of just handing the keys to a rookie. Calm down everyone, like others have said, Dunn could only be as good as a backup. With his D, he could play SG too. They'll be plenty of minutes for him I'm sure.

If you haven't listened to this podcast with Woj and Ricky Rubio it's a very good listen. I just listened to it tonight. I can't believe Woj pronounces Lavine's name wrong. Lol

Absolutely right! As LST pointed out, shopping Ricky without simultaneously securing an alternative good veteran PG makes no sense. Thibs can't be that lacking in judgment. Listening to Thibs today it's even more clear he has no intention of moving Ricky this summer -- unless perhaps Memphis offers up a sign-and-trade deal for Conley, a highly unlikely scenario.
