Is anyone sorta sitting in shock that we hired him? I'm not saying I am upset or it's a bad hire it just felt like the guy I knew the least and had no ties to anyone with the Wolves or anything. Gonna be interesting to learn more about him.
I thought it was interesting he was also a guy the Wizards were looking to interview as well. There was someone saying it was his time to look for another job. I was wondering if some of the whispers about the new Rockets owner not having money was part of that. Maybe he was ready for a big gig. Anyways hopefully he is the right guy.

I'm reserving judgment on this hire for a while.

What does success look like for a Wolves POBO this year? We all should recognize that he'll be replaced within two years anyway. It's the Wolves way.

He's from the Rockets so hopefully some of what they are doing down there comes with him. They've rebuilt on the fly to become a legit contender and that's what we need executed right now.

Langdon was my first choice. We ended up with my second choice. I'm just thankful we didn't end up with Billups. Glen hired one of the three final candidates with NBA front office experience. By Timberwolves standards, that's a major breakthrough.
I have some concerns with Rosas. First, I'm concerned about how he bailed after only 3 months as the Mavs' GM ostensibly because he didn't have enough control. How could he not have known going in what the situation would be? And to then back out after only 3 months makes me wonder. Second, he's been with only one NBA organization for 17 years and that organization isn't a particularly good model of success for the Wolves. The Rockets are a destination franchise with a long history of success, located in a warm-weather state with no state income tax. That put them in a position to build by acquisition. The Wolves are a lower-tier franchise without a history of success playing in a mid-size cold climate with a relatively high state income tax. Therefore, the Wolves' model for success is t develop organically primarily through the draft and partly through under-the-radar young free agents.
All that said, he has a long history of NBA front office and scouting experience as well as success as a G-League GM. Other teams had some interest in him as well - although I'm not impressed that the lousy Wizards organization was interested in him. :)
Bottom line is this. I'm not discouraged by the selection. Otherwise, I'm with Wild in withholding judgment. It's show and prove at this stage. So far, I haven't even heard him speak. So let's hope that Glen finally got it right.

I'll add that one reason for my surprise is they seemed to move very quickly once the first 4 interviews were over. Wolfson said they didn't require a 2nd round of interviews it sounded like he was the guy. I'm surprised maybe even pleased with how decisive they were.
For the people that are a fan of Dennis Lindsey he worked under him in Houston as an intern and Lindsey gave him his first scouting job. One of the reasons why top executives are successful is they are able to spot good smart talented people to surround them. It's not just about basketball talent but an eye for people all around you. Hopefully he has that eye.

The Rockets haven't made a first round pick since 2015 so it's a bit difficult to fully decide what their draft history the last few years. It they still have a pretty good team. It's worth noting they were the first team to have Robert Covington in their organization. Patrick Beverly is a guy they got out of nowhere. They used to be the team that was talked about drafting well getting solid guys while we traded with them. Lol Dane Mopre said on Twitter he has heard Rosas was more of a scouting guy and leaned more that way in the Rockets organization. I hope so. Looking forward to hearing Rosas at the PC.
Edit:
Someone on realgm posted this video from youtube if you want to see Rosas.

A friend of mine who is well plugged in texted me a few minutes ago that Glen offered the PBO position to Billups but Billups turned it down. He said Rosas was the Wolves second choice. Take it for what it's worth. True or not, I'm pleased it's Rosas rather than Billups.
