Im curious what everyone's thoughts are on him as an NBA player. Will he be able to carve out a role in a more fast past and athletic league? Who do you think he could compare to favorably if he does find some success ?

Kanter with a better outside shot may be?
I just can't see him ever being an NBA starter. He is too slow afoot to deal with switches, hard hedges and recoveries, or other defensive maneuvering required of bigs these days. He would have fared better 10-15 years ago.

If he did turn into Kanter with a better outside shot... that's GREAT value at #52, right?
Obviously, there are defensive issues. And I don't even know how he fits on offense. But a guy THAT good at certain things is certainly worth a flyer late in the 2nd rd in the right situation.
I'm actually sorta rooting for the big oaf.

Agreed. I think 2nd round picks can yield guys that were very skilled and productive college players versus just upside prospects. Garza could be a real factor off the bench. We'll see.

Luka Garza has to establish himself to summer league the G league. By 2024 or 2026 (good year for him), That's when he really arrives in the league as good shooter. Kyle Anderson, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin love are slowest guys. In any sports, what's the fastest move? Not yours feet, hands, fingers, nor heads. Its yours eyes (less distance travel but can view whole course) as well as people say "the game slow down for them".
