The Mavs and Pacers both have head coaching vacancies. Who will they hire? What are the chances of either team hiring Ryan Saunders as their new head coach? Chances of him getting an interview for one or both of those vacancies?

Who cares? My question is can we hire Rick Carlisle?

Lol. Rick Carlisle is one of the best head coaches the NBA has every had. I'd love to have him in MN. But we're going to roll with Finch and I'm OK with that.

Pay him whatever he wants to be a consultant then. You know I was mostly joking I'm cool with rolling with Finch too and I would imagine Carlisle is only going to go after a great opportunity anyway. It would be interesting if he went back to Boston.
Meanwhile the Pacers...don't they look kinda stupid? The guy they fired might as an interim coach took a young struggling team to a playoff team to currently being one win from being in the eastern conference finals.

I knew you weren't serious about hiring Carlisle. I think he'll end up in Boston. I imagine he'd love to return there as a head coach. It's where he started as a player. It's a storied franchise. And it has a lot of young talent. Indiana will end up looking smart if they end up hiring Carlisle, but I don't see him going there.

Well...the Pacers looks smart again hiring Carlisle.
Ime Udoka Finally gets his shot in Boston. Kidd returns to Dallas as head coach. Billips goes to Portland.
Still a couple of openings for young teams.

Let's talk about Ryan Saunders the person for a minute. I kinda hope he takes this year off and takes some time. He likely never really had time to really process his father's death and there has been a lot that has happened since then in terms of his job/career. Getting fired as the coach for the Wolves was more than just a loss of a job it was another loss beyond the typical coach job because of his personal connection to the franchise and his dad's connection as well.
Ryan will still be getting paid so why not take some time? Even Thibs took a year off. Lol When his dad passed away he said there was a short time he thought about basically walking away from coaching. Ryan is a guy that works hard loves the game etc but I hope he does what need need to do to have his best life. I hope he gets to spend some quality time with his family. Ryan will still be successful and give something to the game of basketball but from afar I hope it's a while before he returns to it.
