What does everyone think of Holmgren at Gonzaga?

After watching him play some last season, I am just unsure what to think of this guy. On one hand, certainly some unique skills as a 7 foot shooter and ball handler. On the other, he is SOOOOOOO weak and frail, that I don't know if his rebounding and shot blocking from HS translate to college.

He is 7'0" and 190. My son is a junior in HS, 6'6 1/2" and weighs 200....and I would consider him on the thin side. Will be interesting to see if he can translate all those skills without the strength or weight. There have been some guys that translated well with similar body types, Durant being the most notable, but it is rare.

Can't wait for college hoops season.....looks like 11/9!!!

I think his size and instincts and talent will translate well for college. The question becomes how overwhelmed will he be without more weight and strength at the pro level.

Yeah. It's all about strength and core. Durant is 240 and rail thin, but has great core strength. Holmgren seems to fall easily in the films I've seen and at this point can be easily guarded by a much smaller stronger player.

He will be fun to watch though!!

Holmgren is a true unicorn, and I'm not sure that center will be his ultimate position. He has point guard ballhandling skill and very good outside shooting. Drew Timme will likely be back at center for Gonzaga and junior Anton Watson might start at PF. Playing at 3 will be very good for Chet as I think that will be his best position in the pros. He wouldn't be overpowered by the JoVals in the league, and could be very effective as an off ball rim protector. I think he has a bright future.

He moves like a five on defense. He better hit the weight room hard this year.
